Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking a Cloud Data Platform Engineer to own and scale our cloud infrastructure, with a core focus on supporting modern, data-intensive workloads. In this role, you won't just manage servers—you will build self-healing, code-driven cloud environments and optimize production data platforms like Databricks. You will collaborate directly with Data Engineering and DevOps teams to deliver frictionless CI/CD pipelines, robust Kubernetes deployments, and automated FinOps practices.
What You'll Do
- IaC & Automation: Design, provision, and maintain production-grade cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation).
- Data Platform Operations: Architect, scale, and optimize high-throughput data platforms, specifically administering and tuning Databricks workspaces, clusters, and security policies.
- CI/CD & Containers: Build automated deployment workflows (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and manage container orchestration ecosystems using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Modern Cloud Ops: Implement proactive monitoring, distributed tracing, alerting, and automated self-healing mechanisms to maintain high availability.
- Cost & Security Governance: Drive continuous FinOps optimization to reduce cloud spend while enforcing zero-trust security and compliance standards across all environments.
- Incidence & Reliability: Troubleshoot complex performance bottlenecks across the stack and participate in platform reliability operations.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience in Cloud Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Deep expertise in AWS, GCP, or Azure alongside production-level Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation experience.
- Data Platform Focus: Hands-on experience administering and provisioning Databricks environments for enterprise data teams.
- Containers & Orchestration: Strong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes (EKS, GKE, or AKS) configuration and deployment.
- CI/CD: Proven track record creating automated delivery pipelines via GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
- Communication: Fluent written and spoken English.
Bonus Points (Nice-to-Haves)
- Databricks Certified Platform Architect/Engineer, or AWS/GCP Professional Architect certifications.
- Direct experience implementing FinOps automated cost-saving strategies (e.g., spot instances, auto-scaling policy optimization).
- Experience configuring data security controls (Unity Catalog, IAM role delegation, network isolation).
