DevOps Engineer — Kubernetes / AWS (Cheminformatics)

Summary

DevOps Engineer maintains Kubernetes clusters and CI/CD pipelines for Python-based cheminformatics projects, migrating apps to K8s and supporting AWS infrastructure.

We have 30 years of expertise in designing and building custom software systems. We provide software development services focusing on complex high-load applications, AI and BI solutions, and mobile apps.

This is a remote position open to candidates working from any location.

Working hours: Central European Time (CET/CEST).

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Kubernetes and Helm.

You will support several Python-based projects used by scientists in the drug discovery and design process. The projects are at different stages of Kubernetes adoption: some are already running in Kubernetes, while others are currently being migrated or are planned for migration.

Your main responsibilities will be Kubernetes migration, CI/CD configuration, cluster maintenance, and support of existing backend services.

Responsibilities

  • Migrate existing backend applications to Kubernetes.
  • Configure and maintain Kubernetes clusters and Helm deployments.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Artifactory, and Argo CD.
  • Support and troubleshoot existing Kubernetes-based applications.
  • Configure monitoring, logging, secrets management, and autoscaling.
  • Work with AWS infrastructure and related resources.
  • Collaborate with backend developers on deployment and infrastructure needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Helm.
  • Experience with Docker, Jenkins, Artifactory, and Argo CD.
  • Familiarity with Karpenter and KEDA.
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure.
  • Experience with backend infrastructure technologies such as PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, PgBouncer, FastAPI, Dramatiq (or Celery).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana, Loki, Grafana Alloy, or Fluent Bit.
  • Experience with secrets management using AWS Secrets Manager and/or HashiCorp Vault.
  • English level: B2 (Upper-Intermediate) or higher.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Strong Python skills
  • Experience with Snowflake, Swagger/OpenAPI.
  • Experience migrating existing applications to Kubernetes.
  • Experience in life sciences, drug discovery, or scientific software.
