DevOps Engineer
Summary
Designs, automates, and secures cloud infrastructure, migrates workloads from AWS to GCP, and builds CI/CD pipelines to keep systems reliable and scalable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructure.
- Monitor, support, and optimise live infrastructure and platform environments to ensure high availability and performance.
- Assist with the migration of infrastructure from AWS to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Build, maintain, and optimise CI/CD pipelines to streamline software deployment.
- Collaborate with development teams to improve automation, deployment processes, and operational efficiency.
- Strengthen infrastructure security and ensure compliance with recognised standards such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure incidents, performing root cause analysis where required.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation covering infrastructure, systems, and operational procedures.
- Promote DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices across the engineering team.
- Support ongoing improvements in infrastructure automation, monitoring, and cloud operations.
Requirements:
- Strong Linux systems administration experience, including system hardening and firewall management.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and container orchestration technologies.
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly Terraform.
- Experience with network design, administration, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of JavaScript, Node.js, or PHP.
- Experience using Git version control.
- Experience configuring web servers such as Apache and Nginx.
- Database administration experience with MySQL and MongoDB, including backup and high-availability solutions.
- Strong cloud infrastructure experience, particularly AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Familiarity with GCP services including Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and IAM.
- Experience with configuration management and infrastructure automation tools.
- Strong understanding of DevOps methodologies and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
- Matric (Grade 12).
Advantageous:
- Experience with Kubernetes administration.
- Experience supporting cloud migration projects.
- Exposure to security compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
- Experience working within highly available production environments.
- Relevant cloud or DevOps certifications.
