DevOps Engineer - (Public Sector)

At Xtremax, this role supports government partner agencies in designing, operating, and securing cloud infrastructure and CI/CD platforms that enable reliable delivery of digital government services. As a DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, automating, and maintaining secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure and deployment pipelines. The role requires expertise in cloud platforms, automation, security best practices, and modern DevOps methodologies. Engineers must work in an agile, collaborative environment, ensuring seamless integration of security into development workflows and infrastructure operations. Candidates with public sector experience are preferred, as this role supports IT projects for government agencies.

Responsibility:

• Develop automation and processes to enable teams to deploy, manage, scale, and monitor applications in data centers and cloud environments
• Troubleshoot and resolve system and application issues across platforms, including participating in on-call escalations for critical incidents
• Take ownership of end-to-end infrastructure and security solutions across the organization
• Deploy and manage monitoring tools to track infrastructure performance, utilization, and health
• Implement configuration management systems for business continuity and automate disaster recovery measures
• Provision virtual machines, databases, containers, and licenses for development teams
• Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines, incorporating streamlined change management and release processes
• Develop scripts and automation tools to support software build, integration, and deployment across development and production environments
• Automate the configuration management of development, QA, and production workloads
• Design, build, optimize, and monitor automation systems to identify bottlenecks and maximize service availability
• Implement security practices aligned with industry standards to protect organizational data and infrastructure
• Plan, implement, and monitor system security architecture, including threat and risk assessments
• Perform security checks such as vulnerability assessments and system hardening
• Apply secure configurations and security controls for infrastructure and applications

Requirements

Must Have

• Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Facilities Management, or related disciplines
• Must have 4-7 years of relevant experience
• Experience in IT operations or data centre operations
• Good understanding of infrastructure systems and IT operations
• Knowledge of security principles and compliance requirements
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities
• Ability to work in shifts and respond to emergencies when required
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and automation tools
• Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, and AWS services
• Experience supporting container and serverless platforms such as EKS, ECS, and AWS Lambda.
• Experience using Git-based workflows and CI/CD tools such as GitLab

Good to Have

• Experience with Singapore Government projects will be advantageous

Certificate Preferred

• ITIL Foundation
• Data Centre Operations certification
• Basic IT infrastructure certifications
