Summary

DevOps Tech Lead (70% hands-on) responsible for scaling cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes environments, and CI/CD pipelines. The role focuses on reliability for data/messaging layers (MySQL, RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch) and implementing GitOps using Terraform and Argo CD for an AI-driven customer service platform.

About us:

Hiver is a modern, AI-driven customer service platform used by companies across healthcare, finance, logistics, education, and technology. We help teams deliver fast, human support across email, chat, phone, WhatsApp, and more — without the complexity of legacy helpdesks.

We’re a challenger brand in a category dominated by over-engineered tools. We build software that is simple, powerful, and genuinely helpful, and we operate internally with that same philosophy. If you want meaningful ownership, thoughtful teammates, and work that ships, Hiver is a great place to do it.

Opportunity:

We are looking for a hands-on DevOps Tech Lead to build and evolve the platform capabilities that enable engineering teams to deliver software quickly, reliably and securely. This role will be 70% hands-on, 30% leadership (technical direction, mentoring, stakeholder comms). Part of the on-call rotation and leads the response to major production incidents.

You will work in a fast-moving, zero-to-one environment where systems, processes and team boundaries may still be evolving. You should be comfortable identifying problems, creating a pragmatic first version, measuring its impact and improving it iteratively.
What will you do?
  • Scale, secure cloud infrastructure, plus reusable platform components, golden paths and self-service that cut teams' dependence on DevOps.
  • Terraform/IaC modules; containerized production on Kubernetes, Docker and Helm.
  • CI/CD and GitOps pipelines with safe defaults, rollback and drift detection.
  • Reliability of the data/messaging layer: SLOs, observability, incident response, blameless postmortems, and driving down MTTD/MTTR.
  • Security controls, least-privilege and secrets management; cloud-cost visibility and reduction.
  • Data & Messaging layer - databases, queues, search
  • Using AI for real engineering leverage — automation, incident investigation, testing, docs — validated through review and security controls.
What are we looking for?

Must Have
  • 6–9 years in DevOps / platform / SRE / infra / cloud ops, owning production infrastructure for business-critical systems.
  • Deep knowledge of at least one major cloud platform.
  • Strong hands-on Kubernetes and containers, and Terraform/IaC.
  • Production experience operating and troubleshooting databases (MySQL/RDS, PostgreSQL), RabbitMQ, and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch — this is where most of our incidents live.
  • Argo CD (or a direct equivalent) for GitOps, plus CI/CD pipeline design.
  • Strong Linux, networking and production-troubleshooting fundamentals; automation in Python/Bash.
  • Track record leading technical initiatives across teams and mentoring engineers without becoming a bottleneck.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Internal developer platforms / golden paths
  • Observability (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
  • Cloud security perspective (least-privilege, policy-as-code, DevSecOps)
  • FinOps / cloud-cost optimization
  • High-growth SaaS
  • AI-assisted engineering.
