Role Overview

The Government of Alberta’s Digital Design & Delivery (DDD) division is seeking DevOps Specialists to support service innovation, program review, and digital transformation projects. Resources will work across 2–3 projects as part of cross-functional product delivery teams, supporting continuous delivery, automation, cloud operations, and production services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement automation for deployments, maintenance, and reduced downtime.
  • Support production operations, including configuration, credentials, maintenance, database upgrades, backups, and recovery.
  • Create application deployment templates and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate development and testing environment provisioning.
  • Build monitoring, telemetry, and observability solutions.
  • Support integration testing, security scans, system testing, performance/load testing, and Alpha/Beta releases.
  • Remove manual processes through automated and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Document issues, solutions, procedures, and operational processes.


Requirements

Mandatory Qualifications

  • 3+ years research, analysis, and problem-solving experience.
  • 3+ years documenting issues, solutions, and procedures.
  • 2+ years leveraging Generative AI and agentic tooling, including prompt design, RAG, AI-output evaluation, and AI-augmented workflows.
  • 3+ years experience with SSH clients and Remote Desktop.
  • 3+ years security awareness, including secrets management and least privilege.
  • 3+ years experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • 4+ years experience with command-line interfaces.
  • 1+ year experience with networking tools such as DNS, traceroute, and load balancing.
  • 4+ years experience with scripting tools such as PowerShell.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • 2+ years as a DevOps Specialist supporting continuous delivery of custom-built solutions.
  • 2+ years designing/deploying hybrid-cloud applications using Red Hat OpenShift.
  • 2+ years with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • 3+ years with VS Code or Visual Studio 2019+.
  • 3+ years working with enterprise CI/CD pipelines.

Work & Security Requirements

  • Work must be performed within Canada.
  • Primarily remote, with potential Edmonton onsite work up to 15%.
  • Candidate provides required computer, software, and other remote-work equipment.
  • Microsoft Teams is the primary virtual meeting platform.
  • Criminal record check is required.
  • Enhanced security clearance may be required for Justice assignments, with potential for higher-level clearance depending on the ministry.
  • Mandatory government training may include privacy, information management, cybersecurity/security, and workplace conduct.
