Diesel Technician (Extensive Travel)

Job Summary
Diesel Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of diesel equipment used in aggregate production. Related equipment includes, engine, hydraulics, electronics, Tier 4 Systems and fuel systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of diesel engine mechanics and be able to diagnose and repair a wide range of equipment and problems.
Travel Requirements: This role can be based out of Fredericksburg, VA, Hanover, PA, or Havre De Grace, MD and will travel up to 90% of the time to various work sites throughout the region, New York to North Carolina. This role will utilize a company vehicle to be on the road from Monday-Friday supporting projects throughout our division. Overnight stays required.
Essential Functions
• Advanced knowledge to diagnose and repair diesel engines and related equipment including air systems, oil analysis, cooling system
• Proficient troubleshooting experience
• Troubleshooting of fuel system including ability to perform diagnostic test with manufacturer software
• Perform troubleshooting & diagnosing circuit faults
• Ability to disassemble & assemble pumps & lines for the fuel system
• Ability to properly troubleshoot Tier 4 Systems
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Perform routine maintenance on diesel equipment, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical problems
• Inspect diesel equipment and related equipment for safety and compliance issues
• Keep up-to-date on the latest diesel equipment technology
• Follow all safety procedures and regulations

• Technical Expertise -Solid mechanical understanding of mobile equipment, including basic maintenance checks and troubleshooting minor issues. Ability to identify signs of equipment malfunction, understand and report them to the maintenance team.
Education
• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment is required.
• Additional vocational/trade school training in a mechanical field.
Experience
• Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment is preferred.
• Related equipment knowledge on engines, hydraulics, electronics, Tier 4 Systems and fuel systems.
• General understanding of basic electrical, powertrain and hydraulic knowledge, moderate usage of CAT SIS and Vulcan EMS processes.
• Previous experience with CAT SIS/ET of my Komatsu programs required.
• Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment.
• Experience with aggregate equipment a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred.
• Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
• Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
• Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

Other Requirements
• Travel is required to locations throughout the Northeast Division and occasionally beyond.

Hourly Range: the hourly range for this role is between $30.00 - $45.00. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
