Direct Support Professional

Legacy Treatment Services also offers a community setting for adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are looking for direct support professionals to make a positive difference with the Consumers in the program. The goal of each Consumer is to learn independence, which is driven by their Behavior Support Plan. You will work within a diverse population within the special needs community and their families.

Ongoing professional development Weekend availability is required. Candidates must be able to work at least one weekend shift each week.

Salary: $16.00 - $18.00 based on work experience and/or education. Overtime and pay incentives available

Earn an additional $2.00 per hour for all hours worked from 11:00 PM Friday through 11:00 PM Sunday (available to both Full-Time and Part-Time employees).

Job Summary

  • Build trusting relationships and meaningful connections with children and adolescents.
  • Mentor and encourage youth through daily challenges while promoting positive decision-making.
  • Support community integration by accompanying children and adolescents to school activities, shopping, medical appointments, family visits, and recreational outings.
  • Teach and reinforce essential life skills, including cooking, laundry, cleaning, and personal responsibility.
  • Use positive reinforcement and crisis de-escalation techniques to help children and adolescents succeed.
  • Participate in recreational activities.
  • Serve as a positive role model while helping children and adolescents develop independence, confidence, and healthy social skills.
  • Assist with bathing, feeding, grooming and other daily living skills.
  • Assist with medication administration.
