About the Role
As a Partner in Wellbeing, the Direct Support Specialist provides hands-on assistance to individuals with mental health conditions, helping them with daily living activities and promoting overall well-being. They work under the supervision of a mental health practitioner and/or professional offering support and encouragement to help clients achieve greater independence and community inclusion.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provides services as outlined in the client’s treatment plan. Assist with daily living activities.
- Participate and/or lead activities, social skills training, and other interventions designed to promote client engagement.
- Provides a supportive presence, helping clients manage stress, cope with difficult emotions, and build positive relationships.
- Observe clients for changes in behavior, mood, or physical health and report any concerns to the appropriate staff.
- Monitor medication administration and encourage medication compliance.
- Create a safe and supportive environment by implementing and adhering to facility policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Accurately documenting client care, observations, and progress in accordance with guidelines.
- Follow the daily menu and put together meals during shifts worked during meal times.
- Accompanies clients to scheduled appointments and transports clients as requested.
- Performs additional duties as assigned or requested.
