Director, Government Affairs, Southeast Asia
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The Director of Government Affairs for Southeast Asia will lead the development and execution of the company’s public policy and government engagement strategy across key markets in the region. This role is responsible for shaping policy outcomes, building trusted relationships with government stakeholders, and ensuring alignment between regional priorities and global public affairs objectives.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Law, International Relations, or related field preferred
- Master’s degree or PhD is strongly preferred
- 12+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, regulatory affairs, or related roles
- Typically requires 7+ years managerial/leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of Southeast Asia’s political and regulatory landscape
- Experience working in a multinational corporation in a government affairs role
- Experience working in government in a policy-related or regulatory role preferred
Skills
- Proven track record of influencing policy and building high-level government relationships
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed, cross-cultural environment
- Business fluency in English (written and spoken) and at least one other Asian language
Working Conditions
- This position is onsite / hybrid
- Will require occasional off-site meetings or travel
- Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary
- Interaction with team members and external contacts is a regular part of the job
- May require occasional overtime and flexibility in work hours to accommodate the executive’s needs
