Summary

Leads the strategy, governance, and modernization of clinical application systems for a statewide behavioral health provider, ensuring reliable, secure, and user-friendly tools for clinicians and care teams.

Behavioral Health Network (BHN) is a leading statewide provider of behavioral health services and a Certified Great Place to Work. Since 1938, BHN has helped individuals, families, and communities thrive through compassionate, high-quality care. We are seeking a Director of Clinical Application Services to modernize the clinical technology ecosystem supporting our clients, clinicians, programs, and care teams. Reporting to the VP of Information Systems & Technology/CTO, this leader will oversee the people, platforms, workflows, vendors, and governance that power BHN’s clinical operations.

What We Offer:

  • Mission-Driven Technology Leadership – Modernize systems supporting behavioral health care statewide.
  • Enterprise-Wide Impact – Shape application strategy, governance, reliability, and user experience.
  • Clinical Transformation – Turn complex clinical workflows into practical, frictionless processes.
  • Responsible AI Leadership – Guide thoughtful adoption of AI-enabled documentation and automation.
  • People Leadership – Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of approximately 5–10 staff.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership – Partner across clinical, operational, financial, technology, and compliance teams.
  • Comprehensive Benefits – PTO, 403(b), tuition reimbursement, health benefits, employee assistance programs, and more.
  • Certified Great Place to Work – Join an organization recognized for a positive and engaging employee experience.

What You Will Do:

  • Set the strategy, roadmap, governance, and daily performance expectations for BHN’s clinical application portfolio, keeping systems reliable, secure, user-friendly, and aligned with care delivery.
  • Own the EHR ecosystem and related clinical platforms, including configuration standards, workflow optimization, documentation and referral tools, population health support, release and change control, training, adoption, reliability, and user experience.
  • Partner across clinical, operations, data, finance, IT, compliance, quality, security, privacy, legal, and revenue cycle to improve workflows, billing readiness, regulatory reporting, audit preparedness, and protection of patient information.
  • Coordinate with Revenue Cycle leadership to address payer requirements, claims readiness, authorization processes, and denial prevention within the application environment.
  • Direct the support and lifecycle of specialized clinical systems such as Methasoft/MethodOne, including MAT/MOUD workflows, hardware and peripheral coordination, procedures, and vendor performance.
  • Govern AI-enabled clinical tools—including ambient listening, documentation assistance, and summarization—with standards for privacy, consent, accuracy, bias, clinician oversight, retention, and HIPAA compliance.
  • Reduce system friction by strengthening training, adoption, support responsiveness, and workflow consistency across programs.
  • Manage vendor relationships, escalations, roadmaps, service accountability, and metrics for reliability, support quality, backlog, adoption, and compliance.
  • Lead and develop the team, remove barriers, foster accountability and continuous improvement, and brief executives on performance, risks, priorities, and investments.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Health Informatics, Healthcare or Business Administration, or a related field—or equivalent education and experience; clinical licensure is not required.
  • Seven or more years of experience in healthcare applications, clinical systems, EHR or product operations, application services, or healthcare technology leadership.
  • Five or more years of people-leadership experience supervising technical, application, analyst, informatics, or operations staff.
  • Experience leading an EHR or major healthcare application in a complex setting, with strong knowledge of clinical workflows, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, facilitation, executive-presentation, cross-functional partnership, change-leadership, and prioritization skills.
  • Behavioral health, human services, addiction treatment, or multi-site healthcare experience is strongly preferred, including Medicaid, Medicare, MassHealth, managed care, CBHC, outpatient, crisis, residential, or community workflows.
  • Experience with Qualifacts/CareLogic or another major EHR—and with Methasoft/MethodOne, MAT/MOUD workflows, medication-dispensing technology, or clinical devices—is preferred.
  • Experience with AI documentation, ambient listening, automation, summarization, referral management, client portals, consent, interoperability, reporting, or population health tools is preferred.
  • Experience with application governance, service metrics, roadmaps, release and change management, or digital transformation is preferred; a Master’s Degree or relevant certification is a plus.
