Position Overview:
Acadian is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Tax to establish and lead the firm's tax function. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this newly created leadership role will serve as the firm's senior tax advisor, responsible for developing tax strategy, overseeing corporate and fund tax matters, and partnering across the organization to support business growth.
As Acadian expands its product offerings and wealth management capabilities, the Director of Tax will play a key role in advising on fund structures, tax-aware investment strategies, partnership taxation, executive tax planning, and cross-border tax matters. This leader will build a scalable tax organization while collaborating with Investments, Product Development, Legal, Client Service, Operations, and Finance to deliver practical, business-focused tax solutions.
Acadian supports a hybrid work environment, with employees on-site in the Boston office three days a week.
What You’ll Do:
- Build and lead Acadian's tax function, including strategy, governance, processes, and team development.
- Serve as the firm's senior advisor on corporate, partnership, fund, executive, and international tax matters.
- Partner with business leaders to evaluate tax implications of new products, investment strategies, and fund structures.
- Advise on partnership tax planning, executive tax matters, and tax-efficient business structures.
- Oversee corporate, partnership, and fund tax compliance, tax accounting, and related regulatory reporting.
- Provide strategic oversight of cross-border tax and transfer pricing initiatives.
- Monitor emerging tax legislation and advise leadership on business impacts and planning opportunities.
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
- Partner with Client Service and Product teams to support tax-sensitive investment solutions and client needs.
- Build scalable processes and internal controls that support Acadian's continued growth.
We’re Looking for Teammates With:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Tax; CPA required. MST, JD, or LLM in Taxation preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive tax experience, including investment management, partnership taxation, and corporate tax strategy.
- Big Four or national public accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of partnership taxation, fund taxation, executive tax planning, transfer pricing, and investment management structures.
- Experience advising on fund formation, tax structuring, and cross-border tax matters.
- Proven ability to build teams, influence senior leadership, and partner across business functions.
- Outstanding analytical, communication, and relationship management skills.
The base salary range for this role is $225,000 – $250,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, and relevant experience. In addition to base pay, this position may be eligible for discretionary incentive compensation and includes participation in Acadian’s comprehensive benefits program, which includes health, retirement, and wellness offerings.
