Director, Product Marketing

OVERVIEW
The Director, Product Marketing is responsible for shaping and executing product and category marketing strategies that drive profitable growth across Libbey’s portfolio. This role serves as the bridge between customer needs, market insights, innovation, and commercial execution, ensuring our products are positioned to win in the marketplace.The Director, Product Marketing leads the development of category strategies, go-to-market plans, product launches, and portfolio optimization efforts while partnering closely with Sales, Brand Marketing, Insights, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance. Success in this role requires strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, cross-functional leadership, and a passion for delivering value to customers and end users.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Marketing & Category Strategy

Develop and execute category and product marketing strategies aligned to business objectives and growth priorities.
Translate customer, consumer, and market insights into actionable strategies that drive demand and portfolio performance.
Identify market opportunities, competitive trends, and emerging customer needs to inform product and commercialization decisions.
Partner with commercial teams to develop annual and long-range category growth strategies.

Commercialization & Go-to-Market Leadership

Lead go-to-market strategies for new product launches, product line extensions, and portfolio initiatives.
Develop compelling product positioning, messaging, value propositions, and commercialization plans.
Partner with Sales and Channel Marketing to create tools, programs, and customer-facing materials that support successful execution.
Monitor launch performance and incorporate learnings into future commercialization efforts.

Portfolio Performance & Lifecycle Management

Monitor portfolio health and performance across key categories.
Lead product lifecycle initiatives, including product enhancements, portfolio optimization, SKU rationalization, and assortment recommendations.
Evaluate business opportunities and make recommendations based on customer demand, growth potential, profitability, and strategic alignment.
Support regular portfolio reviews and performance reporting.

Customer & Market Insights

Leverage customer, consumer, competitive, and industry insights to inform business decisions.
Partner with Insights and Commercial teams to identify unmet needs and growth opportunities.
Use data and analytics to guide category strategies, marketing investments, and product decisions.

Cross-Functional Leadership

Partner closely with Sales, Brand Marketing, PMO, Operations, Supply Chain, Sourcing, Finance, and Customer Experience teams to align priorities and deliver business results.
Lead cross-functional commercialization efforts from concept through launch and post-launch evaluation.
Influence decision-making and drive alignment across a matrixed organization.

People Leadership

Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Product Marketing team.
Establish clear goals, operating rhythms, and accountability measures.
Build organizational capability in product marketing, category management, commercialization, and strategic planning.
Foster a collaborative, customer-focused, and results-oriented team culture.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field; MBA preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience in Product Marketing, Category Management, Brand Marketing, Commercial Strategy, or related fields.
4+ years of people leadership experience.
Demonstrated success developing and executing go-to-market strategies and commercialization plans.
Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to translate insights into business recommendations.
Experience working cross-functionally within a matrixed organization.
Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
