AT A GLANCE
RVO Health is seeking an experienced and highly analytical Director, SEO & AEO to own organic search performance across our entire suite of health brands, including Healthline (The #1 health website in Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT visibility), Healthgrades (The #1 healthcare finder website), Medical News Today, and more.
This role leads and scales a high-performing SEO team, setting strategy and driving measurable growth in both team capability and organic traffic. The Director brings deep and varied SEO expertise, spanning traditional Google search, Agentic search (AEO), and Social search, and translates that expertise into performance gains and business impact across our digital ecosystem.
This is a highly visible leadership role with direct collaboration at the VP+ level, requiring strong analytical rigor, technical depth, and the ability to connect SEO performance to enterprise priorities.

What You’ll Do
- Lead, coach and scale a highly performant SEO team across multiple priorities and brands.
- Develop team-wide SEO (Google, Agentic, Social) strategies, across every stage of the health search journey (including for Healthline and Healthgrades), based on a nuanced understanding of site performance, SEO data, Google's updates, and third-party industry insights, in alignment with overall business goals.
- Diagnose organic performance issues & guide the team to solutions to difficult search problems.
- Cultivate strategic partnerships with key stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Editorial, Content Operations, Social, GTM teams, and DPM to ensure strategic alignment, build collaborative partnerships, and provide SEO support where needed.
- Demonstrate a high level of understanding for any industry specific requirements or best practices, specifically in the Healthcare and media industries
- Drive the implementation of AI, technology and automation to drive strong efficiency.
- Monitor and analyze SEO performance metrics to track progress and identify opportunities for improvement. Report on these as appropriate to the senior leadership team of the business.
- Use search industry knowledge & experience to autonomously shift strategy and team roadmaps as needed, both in proactive assessment of search behavior and following learnings from Core Algo Updates.
- Consistently & proactively identify testing opportunities, delegates and trains the testing process, and helps the team translate test results into scalable recommendations.
- Provide strategic guidance on Search engine and behavior trends across traditional Google search, Agentic, and Social.
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in SEO with 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of improving search rankings and increasing organic traffic in every stage of the marketing funnel.
- The ability to leverage data from our suite of SEO and AI tools to build forecasting models, upskill the team’s tool proficiency, develop SEO agentic workflows, and design SEO strategy connected to our overall business goals.
- The vision to prioritize and prune work across the SEO team as needed, so that the right resources are focused on the right opportunities.
- Discernment in data analytics, effective in communicating insights and recommendations to senior management and other key stakeholders, and impactful storytelling ability to drive quality decisions.
- Savvy in team upskilling and empowering personal growth journeys.
- Strategic thinker with exceptional decision-making skills.
- Excellent leadership and strategic planning skills.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Leadership that seeks out different perspectives and creates space for all voices to be heard.
- Skilled in giving and asking for feedback regularly, with honesty, care, & the intent to support growth.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related experience.
- Proven track record of increasing organic traffic in the Health industry.
Pursuant to various state Fair Pay Acts, below is a summary of compensation elements for this role at the company. The following benefits are provided by RVO Health, subject to eligibility requirements.
- Starting Salary: $131,250 - $180,000*
*Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications and experience - Bonus Potential
