We're looking for an experienced and strategic leader to join our Rail Operations team as Director, Terminals, Outposts & Layover Operations.
In this leadership role, you will provide strategic direction and operational oversight for GO Transit terminals, outposts, layover facilities, rail fleet readiness, and supporting operational infrastructure. You'll lead a large, multidisciplinary team while ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable delivery of rail services that keep our customers moving every day.
As Director, you will:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for GO Transit terminals, outposts, layover facilities, rail fleet readiness, and supporting operational infrastructure.
- Lead the day-to-day operations of terminals, outposts, and layover facilities while ensuring fleet assets and operational systems are ready to deliver safe and reliable service.
- Oversee the development and execution of capital plans, asset management strategies, maintenance programs, and lifecycle overhaul plans to maximize the performance, reliability, and longevity of fleet and facility assets.
- Partner closely with Rail Fleet, Infrastructure, Maintenance, Planning, and Safety teams to ensure operational readiness and coordinated service delivery across the network.
- Drive operational excellence by establishing performance measures, monitoring key performance indicators, and leading continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, customer experience, and service reliability.
- Provide executive oversight of contractor and vendor performance, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and service standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal partners, regulators, municipalities, rail operators, and other stakeholders to support operational excellence and future service growth.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and safety.
- Provide strategic oversight of operating and capital budgets, ensuring responsible financial stewardship and effective resource planning.
A degree in Engineering, Transportation, Business, Operations Management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated experience, ideally within rail, transit, transportation, infrastructure, logistics, or another complex operational environment.
Experience leading large operational teams within a unionized environment.
Demonstrated experience managing rail operations, fleet and facilities, infrastructure, maintenance, asset management, or other large-scale operational functions.
Experience developing capital plans, asset management strategies, maintenance programs, and lifecycle planning for critical operational assets.
Proven success managing contractors, vendors, service delivery, and complex stakeholder relationships.
Strong financial acumen with experience overseeing operating and capital budgets.
Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
Knowledge of rail operations, transportation regulations, safety legislation, and the public transit sector is considered a strong asset.
