East Malaysia Regional Manager (Sarawak/Industrial)

Key Responsibilities:

Branch Management & Business Performance

  • Lead the overall operations and commercial performance of the regional branch, ensuring achievement of revenue, profitability, and business objectives.
  • Develop and execute regional business plans to drive sales growth, market penetration, and customer acquisition.
  • Monitor branch performance, sales targets, margins, expenses, and key KPIs, taking corrective actions where required.
  • Identify new business opportunities and develop strategies to strengthen the branch's market position.

Sales & Business Development

  • Lead the sales team in developing new accounts, expanding existing customers, and achieving assigned sales targets.
  • Develop strategies to grow sales across industrial, OEM, MRO, distributors, and other relevant customer segments.
  • Identify potential customers and market opportunities through regular market visits, networking, and competitor analysis.
  • Drive solution-based selling by understanding customer requirements and recommending appropriate bearing and mechanical solutions.

Key Account & Customer Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, dealers, and strategic accounts within the region.
  • Personally manage and develop high-value or strategic accounts to maximize revenue and long-term business opportunities.
  • Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, contracts, payment terms, and other business requirements.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and proactively resolve commercial or service-related issues.

Distribution & Channel Development

  • Develop and strengthen relationships with distributors, dealers, and channel partners across the assigned territory.
  • Identify opportunities to expand distribution coverage and improve product availability within the region.
  • Monitor distributor performance, inventory levels, sales activities, and market coverage.
  • Work closely with channel partners to develop joint sales initiatives and market development programs.

Inventory & Branch Operations

  • Oversee branch inventory management to ensure appropriate stock availability while minimizing excess and slow-moving inventory.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain and Warehouse teams to improve stock planning, order fulfilment, and delivery performance.
  • Ensure branch processes, policies, and operational standards are consistently followed.
  • Monitor stock movement and identify opportunities to optimize product mix based on regional demand.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, motivate, and develop the branch's sales and operational teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Establish clear KPIs and performance expectations while providing coaching and regular performance feedback.
  • Develop the team's product knowledge, sales capabilities, customer management, and commercial skills.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and results-oriented branch culture.

Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Monitor regional market trends, competitor activities, customer requirements, and industry developments.
  • Provide management with regular updates on sales performance, market opportunities, competitive activities, and business risks.
  • Analyse sales and customer data to identify growth opportunities and improve commercial decision-making.


Requirements

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Business, Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Sales & Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8–12 years of experience in sales, business development, or branch management, preferably within the bearings, industrial equipment, MRO, mechanical power transmission, engineering, or industrial products sector.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in a leadership or managerial capacity, with experience managing sales teams and branch operations.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets, developing new accounts, and growing regional business.
  • Experience managing distributors, dealers, OEMs, industrial customers, and key accounts is highly advantageous.

Technical & Commercial Skills

  • Strong understanding of bearings and mechanical/industrial products and their applications.
  • Good knowledge of industrial customer segments such as manufacturing, automotive, machinery, steel, power generation, food manufacturing, and general industrial sectors.
  • Strong commercial acumen with proven negotiation and business development capabilities.
  • Excellent understanding of sales pipeline management, forecasting, pricing, and margin management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret sales and business performance data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/ERP systems.
