POSITION SUMMARY:

The Economic Justice Program Coordinator plays a critical role in advancing Catalyst Miami's vision of building a Miami where all people can afford to live well, for generations to come. This position joins Catalyst Miami's Prosperity Campaign and provides bilingual, culturally responsive financial coaching, financial capability education, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), savings and asset-building services, evaluation for small business technical assistance and entrepreneurship support, and other economic justice services to Miami-Dade County residents. The goal of this role is to help individuals, families, and aspiring entrepreneurs build financial stability, increase economic mobility, strengthen business capacity, and access the resources they need to thrive. Catalyst Miami's economic justice services are a core component of our mission, recognizing the connections between financial stability, entrepreneurship, health, employment, education, and long-term economic opportunity.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide one-on-one financial coaching and related economic justice services to individuals, families, and small businesses using a client-centered, strengths-based approach.
  • Conduct client assessments, develop individualized action plans, and support clients in achieving their financial goals and improving their financial well-being.
  • Deliver financial capability services, including budgeting, credit building, debt management, savings strategies, banking access, consumer protection education, tax preparation, and other economic justice services.
  • Prepare accurate tax returns and provide tax education through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, as assigned.
  • Conduct outreach and recruitment activities to engage individuals and families in Catalyst Miami's economic justice services.
  • Plan and facilitate financial capability workshops, presentations, and community education activities for residents and partner organizations.
  • Screen clients for eligibility and connect individuals, families, and small business owners to internal programs, public benefits, and community resources that promote financial stability, business sustainability, and overall well-being
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records in agency data systems in accordance with organizational policies and funder requirements.
  • Track client participation, outcomes, and program performance measures to support reporting, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices, policy changes, community resources, and emerging trends relevant to assigned program areas through ongoing professional development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Catalyst Miami to provide coordinated, holistic services that address the interconnected needs of clients.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and other agency initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Language: Professional working proficiency in oral and written English. Professional working proficiency in oral and written Haitian Creole and/or Spanish.
  • Education: Associate’s Degree
  • Years of Experience: suggested 0-3
  • Certification or license: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) or similar financial certification or education is a plus but not required
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite and working knowledge of web-based platforms.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work in a shared-workspace environment
  • Stretch and bend to organize and distribute materials for Catalyst Miami activities
  • Able to sit at desk for long periods of time and utilize computer for extended periods
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate organization needs, including evening and weekends. Out of town travel may be required.
