EHS & Maintenance Executive
Summary
Oversee workplace safety, environmental compliance, and facility maintenance in a manufacturing environment, ensuring adherence to ISO standards and minimizing operational downtime.
Environmental, Health and Safety Scope
- To assist the EHS & Maintenance Manager in implementing and maintaining the Company’s Environmental, Health, Safety and Maintenance policies, procedures and legal requirements.
- To assist in monitoring site compliance with ISO standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements where applicable.
- To conduct regular workplace inspections, safety audits and housekeeping checks to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
- Assist in identifying workplace hazards, conducting risk assessments and ensuring appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Coordinate and support EHS training, toolbox briefings, emergency response drills and awareness programs for employees and contractors.
- Ensure contractors, vendors and service providers comply with the Company’s EHS requirements and security standards while performing work on site.
- Manage and monitor the issuance, usage and control of PPE and safety-related attire for employees, contractors and visitors in accordance with site requirements.
- Assist in maintaining EHS records, reports, permits, licenses and statutory documentation in accordance with legal and company requirements.
- Maintain discipline, teamwork and good communication within the EHS & Maintenance function and across departments.
- Lead or support special tasks and projects related to EHS, maintenance, facilities, sustainability and site improvement activities.
Maintenance and Facilities Scope
- To attend to machinery, equipment and facility breakdowns, coordinate troubleshooting and repairs, and follow up with the relevant departments, technicians or external service providers to minimise operational downtime.
- To maintain accurate maintenance records, including equipment history, service reports, inspection checklists, breakdown records and preventive maintenance completion status.
- To monitor the condition and performance of essential utilities and facility systems, including electrical systems, compressed air, water supply, ventilation, air-conditioning, fire protection systems and other site infrastructure.
- To monitor the availability and usage of critical spare parts, maintenance tools and consumable items, and support the timely replenishment of required materials.
- To support root cause analysis for recurring equipment failures and assist in implementing corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and prevent repeated breakdowns.
- To assist in obtaining quotations, preparing maintenance work scopes, coordinating purchase requests and verifying the satisfactory completion of maintenance and facility-related works.
- To support machinery installation, equipment relocation, facility modification and improvement projects, ensuring that safety and operational requirements are considered before commissioning or handover.
- To assist in monitoring maintenance costs, equipment performance, energy consumption and service-provider performance.
Minimum Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Management, or a related field.
Minimum 2-3 years of direct working experience in EHS, safety management, or occupational health and safety roles within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards, with practical experience in compliance monitoring and auditing.
Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail in maintaining EHS records, documentation, permits and statutory compliance.
Proficient communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia, written and verbal, with ability to conduct safety briefings and training sessions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with EHS management systems or incident reporting software is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees, contractors, and stakeholders at all levels.
- Proactive, disciplined, and detail-oriented with a strong commitment to workplace safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment.
- Willingness to support site initiatives, improvement projects, and other EHS, maintenance, sustainability, and operational activities as required.
- Manufacturing or industrial experience is preferred, with exposure to coatings, chemical processes, or related industries considered an advantage.
