EIT Urban Mobility is an knowledge and innovation community (KIC) of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union and Europe's largest network for transport innovation in cities.


Our mission is to accelerate change towards a sustainable model of urban mobility and liveable urban spaces. We connect public and private actors and provide them with access to markets, talent, finance and knowledge.


Using cities as living labs, our industry, research and university partners will demonstrate how new technologies can work to solve real problems in real cities by transporting people, goods and waste in smarter ways.

Key responsibilities

The role of the EIT Hub UK Manager encompasses three primary operational domains focused on local community development in business creation, innovation and education, as well as business development to the financial sustainability of the EIT Hub UK programmes, including fundraising activities for the EIT Community Hub. These responsibilities are complemented by coordination, communication and administration duties.


The EIT Hub UK Manager will serve as a centralised contact gateway for pan-European and British stakeholders to the EIT Community programmes in the UK, and refer stakeholders to contact persons within other relevant EIT KICs, best suited to support their needs. As part of his role, the EIT Hub UK Manager coordinates the collection of locally crafted programmes (Calling to Scale, Bridging the Horizon, etc.) aimed at connecting the UK market with European stakeholders and beyond, by bring these to the attention to the EIT KICs portfolio of start-ups and partners.


In this position you will establish an EIT Hub in UK and act as the point of contact for European and UK stakeholders. You are expected to lead all related tasks and collaborate with internal and external partners on the projects, both in UK and in various European locations.


Responsibilities:


• Build the activities of EIT Hub UK as a global outreach location of EIT, establishing the Hub’s position as the bridge between the European and UK innovation ecosystems.
• Execute and optimize EIT Hub UK’s programme portfolio.
• Manage all financial aspects including budget planning and implementation in full compliance with Horizon Europe requirements.
• Build a network/start-up community of engaged stakeholders, both from UK and EU while attracting new partners, opportunities, and clients for the hub. This includes event planning and individual networking efforts.
• Implement business models and establish the Hub’s financial sustainability.
• Report to EIT Community (KICs’ cluster of Regional Innovation and Internationalisation) and EIT Urban Mobility’s Hub West Management.
• Support EIT initiatives in the UK ecosystem, connecting UK and EU ecosystem stakeholders including entrepreneurs, corporates, diplomats, researchers and more, as well as providing value adding services.
• Raise awareness about the presence of EIT in UK, actively network to increase EIT opportunities and engagement to the UK market.
• Track, communicate and disseminate case studies and success stories.


What you will bring along the way:

Qualifications:


The candidate should have the following competencies for success and meet the minimal qualifications:


• At least 6-8 years of management experience in Innovation program/accelerator/venture capital or equivalent experience, including proven team and people management experience.
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree – Master/MBA is an advantage.
• Deeply engaged with the UK innovation ecosystem including strong, active relationship with local sources of capital for potential developments.
• International business development/project management experience, preferably with the European market.
• Comfortable managing multiple projects and driving initiatives through a complex organization.
• A people-person who is both tech-savvy and loves communicating.
• A result driven, practical, creative, fast thinker who is constantly on her feet and aware that others are counting on them.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Another European language is a plus.


Nice-to-haves:


• Understanding of Horizon Europe implementation rules, project delivery, and reporting requirements.
• Experience with Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs).
• Experience working in a multinational, multicultural environment; a European perspective is considered an advantage.
• Strong teamwork skills, combined with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and operate in a proactive, structured, and hands-on manner.


Kindly note that this is a fixed-term, full-time position for a duration of two years, based in London, United Kingdom with the possibility of extension in 2028, subject to the next EU Framework Programme and satisfactory performance.


No relocation expenses are granted.


Please note that, as EIT Urban Mobility does not currently employ staff directly in the UK, the successful candidate will be employed through our UK Employer of Record (EOR) partner. The individual will work fully as part of the EIT Urban Mobility team, while the EOR will act as the legal employer in the UK.
