Electrical Design Engineer – Data Centres

Posted
Discussion

ZeroOne is a rapidly growing Dublin-based MEP consultancy specialising in the design of mission-critical data centre infrastructure across Europe.

We are looking for Electrical Design Engineers to join our Dublin team. This is an opportunity to develop your career working on some of the most technically challenging electrical engineering problems in the industry, particularly in the areas of power distribution, electrical infrastructure, and mission-critical systems.

As chip power densities continue to increase and electrical systems become more sophisticated, the demand for engineers who can develop robust, efficient and resilient electrical designs is growing rapidly. At ZeroOne, you’ll apply your engineering fundamentals to the design of electrical systems for hyperscale, colocation and next-generation AI data centres.

You’ll work alongside experienced electrical engineers and founding directors, gaining practical experience across the full design process while developing the technical skills needed to build a successful career in specialist electrical engineering.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Supporting the design and delivery of electrical systems for large-scale data centre projects across the EMEA region.
  • Developing an understanding of LV and MV power distribution systems, standby generation, UPS systems, transformers, switchgear and other critical electrical infrastructure.
  • Assisting with electrical engineering calculations, equipment selection, system schematics, single-line diagrams, technical reports and design documentation.
  • Supporting the development and coordination of electrical designs using industry-standard software.
  • Developing an understanding of electrical load assessments, cable sizing, voltage drop, fault level calculations, protection and discrimination.
  • Working with senior engineers to understand how complex electrical systems are designed, analysed, coordinated and delivered.
  • Assisting with the design of resilient electrical distribution systems for mission-critical environments.
  • Supporting the development of electrical layouts, containment, busbar, small power, lighting, emergency lighting and other building electrical services.
  • Collaborating with mechanical engineers, clients and project teams to deliver coordinated, high-quality designs.
  • Gaining exposure to project meetings, design reviews and site visits across Europe as your experience develops.

About You

We’re particularly interested in candidates who are curious, technically driven and excited by the opportunity to solve complex engineering problems.

- Currently completing, or recently completed, a bachelor’s degree or master's in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.

- Strong academic grounding in electrical engineering principles and power systems.

- A genuine interest in electrical systems, power distribution, and engineering design.

- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

- Permanent legal right to live and work in Ireland.

- Experience or familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux, Amtech or other engineering software.

- Base knowledge of LV/MV distribution systems, transformers, generators, UPS systems or data centre electrical infrastructure.

- Relevant project, placement, research or university design experience.

- An interest in data centres, high-tech facilities or other mission-critical environments.

You do not need to have previous data centre experience. We are primarily looking for strong engineering fundamentals, intellectual curiosity and the motivation to develop into an excellent engineer.
