Electrical Engineer
Description
Role & responsibilities
- Test every new sample received from the manufacturing partner against the agreed specification before the sample is approved and the order is placed
- Verify rated output against measured output for chargers and adapters across voltage, current and all supported fast-charging protocols
- Verify battery capacity in mAh and Wh on power banks by controlled discharge and record actual conversion efficiency against the claimed figure
- Draw samples from every incoming production lot using a defined sampling plan and test before the lot is accepted into stock
- Run functional checks on cables and connectors covering continuity, current rating, data transfer and connector insertion cycles
- Test audio products for output level, channel balance, distortion, pairing behaviour, microphone function and playback time on a full charge
- Check protection circuitry by deliberate test over-current, over-voltage, short circuit, over-temperature and over-discharge must all trip as designed
- Monitor temperature rise under full load and raise a hold on any lot that fails, ensuring held stock is not released until cleared
- Coordinate sample submission, testing and documentation with BIS-recognised laboratories for registration under the Compulsory Registration Scheme
- Maintain test reports, certificates and technical files for each SKU and keep them current and audit-ready
- Verify that markings, ratings and declarations on the product and packaging match the tested values as required under Legal Metrology and E-Waste Rules
- Test warranty returns and field failures, establish root cause and classify each failure by type and responsibility
- Raise corrective action requests with the manufacturing partner and verify through re-testing that the corrective action worked
- Set up and maintain the in-house test bench, keep all instruments calibrated and maintain calibration records
- Write and maintain standard test procedures for every product category so testing is repeatable regardless of who performs it
- Publish a periodic testing and quality report covering pass and fail rates, recurring defects and supplier-wise performance
- Train and guide the quality inspection team on test procedures and acceptance criteria
Preferred candidate profile
- B.E. or B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Electronics and Communication or an equivalent discipline
- 2 to 9years of experience in product testing, quality assurance or a test laboratory, preferably in consumer electronics, mobile accessories or power electronics
- Hands-on experience with electronic loads, battery testers and analysers, power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, LCR meters and thermal measurement
- Working knowledge of battery technology, charging circuits, power conversion and protection circuitry
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, datasheets and BOMs
- Familiarity with Indian product safety standards and the BIS certification process
- Prior experience taking a consumer electronics product through BIS or CRS registration will be an advantage
- Experience defining sampling plans and acceptance criteria for incoming quality inspection
- Exposure to working with overseas manufacturing partners on quality issues and corrective action
- Knowledge of structured root cause analysis methods and quality tools
- Comfortable recording and analysing test data in Excel and in an ERP system
- The judgement and the nerve to reject a lot that does not meet specification, regardless of commercial pressure or dispatch deadlines
