Electrician A
The Electrician C combines knowledge of mechanical technology with knowledge of
electrical and electronic circuits to install, repair and maintain electrical systems,
apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties
may be assigned.
• Install, set-up, maintain, modify and repair all electrical distribution systems and
associated electrical equipment.
• Remain in compliance with current National Electric Code.
• Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers,
transfer switches and switch gears.
• Install, operate, maintain, test and troubleshoot all types of electrical utilities and
production equipment including lubrication and periodic servicing.
• Run computer cables, connect computer jacks and plugs and test for adequate
operations.
• Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connect cables
and wires between machines and equipment, following instructions from
manuals, schematic diagrams and blueprints requiring the use of hand tools and
test equipment.
• Detect malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors and lighting
fixtures using test equipment, and replace damaged or broken wires and cables
using hand tools.
• Replace faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches and
motors and positions sensing devices, using hand tools. Replace electric motor
bearings and rewire motors
• Diagnose and repair or replace faulty electronic components such as printed
circuit boards using electronic test equipment and hand tools.
• Possess and use knowledge of plant electrical distribution system and power
requirements.
• Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s installation manuals to
complete assigned projects.
• Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and
equipment, such as robots, conveyor and programmable controllers, adhering to
electrical code and blueprints.
• May plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit and electrical apparatus in
buildings.
• May diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic
components of machines and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
