Electronic Systems Design Engineer (Simsbury, CT)
Electronic Systems Design Engineer
Location: Simsbury, CT
Our client is a growing technical organization seeking an Electronic Systems Design Engineer to contribute to next-generation products requiring dependable, high-quality engineering. You will play an active role throughout the engineering lifecycle, applying your technical expertise to new designs, performance evaluation, system implementation, and continuous improvement.
This Role Offers:
- Contribute to the development of sophisticated electronic systems engineered for consistent performance in complex environments.
- Hands on involvement throughout the product lifecycle rather than ownership of only one stage of development.
- Exposure to challenging analog, digital, and mixed signal design work.
- Collaborative environment with experienced engineering, manufacturing, and technical professionals.
- Clear path for professional growth with opportunities to take on increasingly complex technical challenges and greater project ownership.
Focus:
- Develop analog, digital, and mixed signal circuitry for complex electronic products and subsystems.
- Develop circuit designs while contributing to board-level architecture, hardware configuration, and component evaluation.
- Analyze circuit behavior through simulation, engineering calculations, and structured design evaluations.
- Complete Operating Stress and Electrical Worst Case analyses to assess design margin and hardware robustness.
- Support prototype builds, hardware integration, verification activities, and qualification testing.
- Diagnose circuit and board level performance issues using laboratory instrumentation and systematic troubleshooting methods.
- Evaluate potential design risks and contribute to engineering risk assessment and mitigation activities.
- Prepare clear technical documentation that supports design decisions, testing, manufacturing, and product sustainment.
- Partner with engineering and manufacturing stakeholders as designs move from requirements and early concepts into implementation and production support.
Skill Set:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 3 or more years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience developing analog, digital, and or mixed signal electronic hardware.
- Experience with schematic capture and printed circuit board layout. Altium Designer Version 20 or newer is strongly preferred, although comparable ECAD experience may be considered.
- Experience performing Operating Stress and Electrical Worst Case analyses.
- Familiarity with electronic circuit modeling and analysis tools, including LTspice or similar software.
- Hands-on experience diagnosing and resolving electronic hardware issues using standard laboratory test and measurement equipment.
- Experience with FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis, or similar engineering risk assessment methods is beneficial.
- Familiarity with IPC, IEEE, SAE, DoD, or comparable engineering and product safety standards is a plus. Relevant experience with standards from other highly regulated industries may also translate well.
- Experience working with digital hardware design or embedded programming platforms is preferred but not required.
- Excellent critical thinking abilities with a talent for resolving complex issues and clearly conveying technical information.
- Ability to prioritize technical assignments, estimate work effectively, and contribute successfully within a collaborative engineering team.
