About the Role
We’re looking for an Electronics Engineer to join our Electronics Engineering team and play a hands-on role in designing and developing Cambridge Audio products.
You’ll be part of a small, highly skilled team, so your work will have a direct and visible impact on the products we bring to market. You’ll take ownership of your designs, work with a high degree of autonomy, and deliver accurate, well-documented circuit and system-level work that keeps projects moving with minimal rework.
Key Responsibilities
1. Circuit and System Design
- Design analogue, digital, power and mixed-signal circuits to meet project requirements.
- Produce block diagrams, schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs and test documentation, stored correctly in the designated system.
- Design with cost targets, project plans, manufacturing requirements and regulatory standards in mind, flagging risks early to the Head of Electronics.
2. Prototyping, Validation and Compliance
- Build and validate prototypes, support system bring-up and debugging, and verify designs against specification.
- Support compliance activities and testing for EMC, safety and other regulatory standards.
3. Cross-Functional Delivery
- Work closely with mechanical, firmware, software, QA and manufacturing teams to make sure designs integrate correctly.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and deliver them on schedule.
- Keep Jira tasks and time tracking accurate and up to date.
4. Product Lifecycle and Continuous Improvement
- Support products after mass production, including end-of-life (EoL) component management and engineering change notice (ECN) releases.
- Take part in peer design reviews, giving and acting on feedback constructively.
- Suggest improvements to processes, documentation and team workflows.
Requirements
- Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related subject.
- Proven experience in electronics design, ideally within audio or consumer electronics.
- Strong working knowledge across analogue, digital and power electronics.
- Hands-on experience with PCB schematic capture and layout (Altium Designer preferred).
- Experienced in the use of and experimentation with AI as a copilot, or at least genuinely receptive and excited to experiment with AI design tools and integrate them into your workflow.
Personal Profile
- A genuine passion for music and the products Cambridge Audio develops.
- Takes ownership and sees work through, managing your own workload with minimal supervision.
- Detail-focused, with high standards for accuracy and documentation.
- A clear communicator and natural collaborator who enjoys working across disciplines.
- A practical problem-solver who stays curious and keeps learning.
