Electronics Hardware Design Engineer
Summary
Designs aerospace/defense-grade PCBs (schematics, layouts, simulations) for a Munich-based startup building Europe’s hypersonic tech; bridges hardware, FPGA, and embedded software teams while ensuring compliance with strict military standards.
What you'll do
- Develop schematics and multi-layer PCB layouts using Altium Designer.
- Perform component selection, circuit simulation, and design verification.
- Design power distribution, signal conditioning, and sensor interface circuits.
- Analyze signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC/EMI performance.
- Support board bring-up¹, debugging, validation, and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate closely with FPGA, embedded software, and mechanical engineering teams.
- Prepare design documentation, test procedures, and manufacturing documentation.
- Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, and other applicable industry standards.
- Support prototype builds, qualification testing, and production transfer activities.
Who You Are
- Approximately 5+ years of professional experience in digital, mixed-signal, and analog hardware design for aerospace, defence, or other highly regulated industries.
- Experienced hardware design engineer with a track record of delivering deployed PCB-based electronics in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated sectors.
- Skilled across digital, mixed-signal, and analog circuit design, with hands-on Altium Designer experience from schematic capture through multi-layer layout.
- Strong grasp of signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC/EMI principles, able to resolve competing physical constraints (space, thermal, cost, manufacturability).
- Comfortable owning designs end-to-end: simulation, verification, prototype bring-up, debugging, and root cause analysis.
- Collaborative across disciplines - works closely with FPGA, embedded software, and mechanical engineering teams.
- Rigorous and detail-oriented, with an instinct for reliability and compliance in mission-critical systems.
- Motivated by hands-on delivery of flight- or mission-critical hardware over theoretical work.
What We Offer
- A mission driven environment with the opportunity to work on one of Europe’s most consequential defence challenges, with direct impact on sovereign capability and security.
- Daily collaboration with top experts across engineering, operations, and defence, with real opportunity to learn from the best, contribute, and grow.
- High ownership and autonomy; no time tracking, no micromanagement, just clear objectives and accountability for outcomes.
- A fast paced environment where good ideas are implemented quickly, and feedback from test and flight drives real decisions.
- A culture that values clarity, integrity, and excellence, and supports people who take initiative and push boundaries responsibly.
- Competitive compensation and real share options aligned to responsibility and impact, not tenure or hierarchy.
