As an Energy Industry Analyst some of your typical work assignments include: Performing and/or directing highly visible and technically complex studies and analyses in areas such as transmission and pipeline planning, cost allocation, and pricing; electric and/or natural gas market design; resource adequacy; demand response and energy efficiency; distributed generation; new and emerging technologies; advanced grid technologies; natural gas transportation; smart grid applications; and gas-electric coordination. Leading and participating in technical outreach activities to identify significant industry developments, monitoring complex and evolving trends, and analyzing wide-ranging potential impacts on electric and/or natural gas systems. Preparing or leading preparation of technical memoranda, notices, analyses, and similar documents for complex or sensitive Commission matters, drawing on and explaining advanced analytical methods. Developing recommendations for improving analytical tools and methodologies, enabling the Commission to make informed decisions and anticipate future needs within the industry. Serving as a primary technical authority in briefings, effectively conveying complex and nuanced information regarding the Commission's regulatory standards, priorities, and ongoing initiatives. Training and mentoring staff within OTRE by providing technical interpretation, analytical guidance, and methodological support in electric and/or natural gas market design, system operations, smart grid, demand response, energy efficiency, distributed generation, advanced grid technologies, transmission and pipeline planning, and gas-electric coordination.
