Engineering Manager, ML

You will lead engineers who build infrastructure for training, testing, and evaluating models. You will set technical direction, debug systems alongside the team, work with researchers on latency, quality, and cost trade-offs, and hire, coach, and mentor infrastructure engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineers building infrastructure for training, testing, and evaluating models
• Set technical direction for training and evaluating models at scale
• Debug infrastructure and model-behavior issues alongside the team
• Partner with researchers to translate latency, quality, and cost trade-offs into infrastructure decisions
• Build rollout infrastructure for large-scale RL experiments
• Design evaluation pipelines that detect regressions
• Own sandboxed, reproducible training and testing environments
• Measure model quality and progress rigorously
• Hire, coach, mentor, and develop infrastructure engineers

Requirements

• Experience leading engineering teams that build production infrastructure for training, evaluating, or serving ML models
• Strong infrastructure and distributed systems fundamentals
• Ability to write code and conduct in-depth PR reviews
• Ability to operate effectively with incomplete information
• Track record of hiring and developing engineers
• Ability to discuss model behavior with researchers and systems design with engineers
• Hands-on experience with RL training infrastructure, evaluation frameworks, or simulated model-training environments
