Engineering Thermodynamics

Open 17d

Summary

Performs advanced thermodynamic and CFD analyses to support aircraft design, testing, and performance optimization using simulation and modeling tools.

SUMMARY

The Professional, Engineering - Thermodynamics is responsible for performing advanced thermodynamic, fluid-flow, heat-transfer, and computational fluid dynamics analyses in support of aircraft design, testing, and performance optimization. This position evaluates complex coupled fluid-heat transfer challenges, supports aircraft right-sizing and design decisions, prepares and documents analysis and test results, and develops engineering practice documentation to support consistent technical execution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform complex computational analyses involving coupled fluid-heat transfer, pipe network flow, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and aircraft-related thermal challenges
  • Conduct internal flow CFD analysis to support aircraft design, system performance, and component sizing decisions
  • Interpret analysis results within the context of aircraft design requirements, right-sizing, reliability, safety, and performance objectives
  • Prepare engineering test plans for analysis validation, ground testing, flight testing, and related technical evaluations
  • Document analysis results, assumptions, methodologies, ground test findings, flight test findings, and technical recommendations
  • Develop, write, and update engineering practice documents, procedures, and technical standards as required
  • Use CFD, finite element, CAD, and simulation tools to model complex thermal-fluid behavior and support design trade studies
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, testing, and program stakeholders to communicate results and support informed technical decisions
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned
