The Enterprise Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Mechanical Systems is responsible for developing, standardizing, and delivering enterprise-level technical training for Data Center Critical Facilities Engineering (DCFE) personnel across Oracle’s global data center portfolio. As a member of the DCFE Training Center of Excellence, this role serves as the technical authority for mechanical infrastructure training and partners closely with Instructional Designers to develop curriculum, qualification standards, and learning solutions.

Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the enterprise training authority for critical mechanical systems.

  • Establish and maintain enterprise mechanical training standards and qualification requirements.

  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Commissioning teams to ensure training reflects current technologies and best practices.

  • Incorporate lessons learned and operational feedback into curriculum improvements.

Training Delivery

  • Deliver instructor-led classroom and field-based training to DCFE personnel.

  • Conduct hands-on instruction using mechanical equipment and operational scenarios.

  • Facilitate advanced technical workshops for experienced operators and technicians.

  • Support commissioning, startup, and operational readiness training for new campuses.

  • Travel to Oracle data center campuses to deliver scheduled training programs and specialized instruction.

Curriculum Development

  • Partner with Instructional Designers to create and maintain:

    • Technical training courses

    • Qualification pathways

    • Instructor guides

    • Student materials

    • Performance assessments

    • Practical evaluation guides

    • Equipment-specific job aids

  • Review and validate technical accuracy of all mechanical training content.

Operational Readiness

  • Support enterprise initiatives related to workforce capability and mechanical systems proficiency.

  • Assist with development of standardized qualification criteria for mechanical systems.

  • Recommend enhancements to training based on emerging technologies, operational trends, and equipment changes.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify gaps in mechanical knowledge and recommend training solutions.

  • Evaluate training effectiveness through learner feedback, assessments, and operational performance metrics.

  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, OEM updates, and evolving mechanical technologies used in hyperscale data centers.

Technical Scope

This role provides subject matter expertise for systems including, but not limited to:

  • Chilled water systems

  • Chillers

  • Pumps and hydronic systems

  • CRAH and CRAC units

  • HVAC systems

  • Heat rejection systems

  • Water treatment systems

  • Chemical treatment processes

  • Expansion tanks

  • Plate heat exchangers

  • Airflow management

  • Mechanical controls and sequences of operation

  • Preventive and predictive maintenance practices

  • Mechanical troubleshooting and fault response

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience operating and maintaining mission-critical mechanical infrastructure in hyperscale, enterprise, or industrial environments.

  • Demonstrated expertise in chilled water, HVAC, and mechanical cooling systems supporting critical facilities.

  • Experience developing or delivering technical training for adult learners.

  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.

  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to Oracle data center campuses.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in hyperscale data center operations.

  • Experience supporting commissioning or startup activities for new facilities.

  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and mechanical controls.

  • Experience developing technical curriculum or qualification programs.

  • Industry certifications related to HVAC, mechanical systems, or critical facilities.

Success in this role is measured by the ability to:

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $114,600 to $234,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
