Environmental/Wetland Scientist
Stantec seeks a Wetland Scientist to join our Environmental Services team. Our Environmental Services team provides a small company feel while supporting clients and projects at the local and national level. *This position can be remote and/or based out of one or a combination of the following company office locations: Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Rhode Island.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Conducting and/or supporting wetland delineations and preparing environmental permit applications for our clients in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and elsewhere in New England.
- Work efficiently and safely alone or with field teams and participate in other tasks, such as reporting, permitting support, and communication with project management, clients, and regulators.
- Inland and coastal resource delineations pursuant to the requirements of the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and other applicable State regulations, as well as Section 404/401 of the Federal Clean Water Act
- Preparing technical reports detailing wetland delineations and other natural resource based surveys.
- Report and permit application preparation for the Corps and Massachusetts DEP Division of Wetlands and Waterways
- Interacting and communicating effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, regulators, and/or clients

Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Experience delineating wetlands and other regulated resources according to the US Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) Wetlands Delineation Manual and Regional Supplement, and the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act.
- Experience delineating wetlands and an understanding of the applicable wetland related regulations and delineation protocols in other New England states is a plus.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent ethics, attitude, and morale.
- Writing, organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience driving/navigating in remote locations, and demonstrated experience with GPS or iPAD data collection technologies is desired.
- Knowledge of computer applications and functions, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to travel for field work as needed.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2-5 years’ work experience desired; or an equivalent combination of education (e.g. advanced degree) and experience.
