Fabrication & Building/Warehouse Lead
Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Fabrication & Building/Warehouse Lead with a diversified, multi-trade skillset. This working lead role is responsible for day-to-day fabrication in our shop and serves as the lead for our building and warehouse — keeping the facility organized, maintained, and running safely. The ideal candidate brings experience across multiple trades — carpentry, metal fabrication, and general building maintenance — reads drawings, produces accurate work, and leads by example.
Skyline Windows is a fourth-generation family owned and operated business. We are best known for designing, manufacturing, and installing custom windows, window wall systems, and terrace doors. All our products are made to order based on our clients’ project specifications. From landmarks to new construction, high end residential to high volume commercial, we do it all!
Key Responsibilities
- Order Labeling & Shipping: Ensure completed orders are correctly labeled and staged for shipping.
- Facility Maintenance & Repairs: Perform general building maintenance and repairs, including basic electrical and plumbing work as needed.
- Carpentry & Woodwork: Fabricate, cut, and assemble wood components and custom pieces using table saws, chop saws, and related woodworking equipment and hand tools.
- Metal Work & Brake Operation: Measure, mark, cut, bend, and shape metal and other materials, including operating a brake to form capping, flashing, and trim.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to execute accurate fabrication.
- Assembly: Join and assemble components through welding, bolting, riveting, or adhesives to construct finished products.
- Quality Control: Inspect and test work for defects and verify compliance with specifications using precision instruments (tape measures, calipers); check the quality and accuracy of work produced by other fabricators in the shop.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on tools and machinery to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to OSHA guidelines and company safety protocols, including proper use of PPE.
- Collaboration: Work with engineers, designers, field teams, and warehouse staff to resolve challenges and improve processes.
- Documentation & Process Improvement: Record production data and inspection results accurately; recommend efficiency improvements in techniques and workflows.
