Facilities Manager

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
- Lead and manage all facility operations across manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse, and office environments to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient workplace.
- Direct and develop the Facilities and Maintenance team, including performance management, employee development, staffing, training, and succession planning.
- Ensure all building systems, utilities, and critical infrastructure are maintained and operated in compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and company requirements, including boilers, chillers, compressors, HVAC systems, pumps, electrical systems, and other facility equipment.
- Accountable for facility operational budgets, financial performance, cost control, forecasting, and capital planning.
- Develop, implement, and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize asset reliability and minimize downtime.
- Manage contractor and vendor performance, service agreements, and facility-related procurement activities to ensure quality, cost effectiveness, and compliance.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for facility-related issues, concerns, and customer service requests.
- Establish and manage employee performance objectives and Individual Performance Development Plans in partnership with Human Resources.
- Support Property, Project, Procurement, and Operations teams in the execution of facility projects, infrastructure upgrades, renovations, and critical business initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with CooperSurgical policies, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and ethical business practices.
- Monitor facility Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), identify performance gaps, and implement corrective action plans.
- Lead global collaboration efforts to standardize and harmonize Facilities and EHS systems, policies, procedures, and best practices across sites.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for Health & Safety (H&S) programs, driving continuous improvement and a strong safety culture.
- Lead the site's Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment process, including department, task, and operational risk assessments.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee knowledge and capabilities in facilities operations, safety, and compliance.
- Develop facility strategies that support business growth, asset reliability, sustainability goals, risk reduction, and operational excellence.
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA regulations and all applicable environmental, health, and safety requirements, including training and recordkeeping.
- Partner with business leaders and EHS professionals to ensure alignment of facility, safety, and operational objectives.
- Strengthen and manage critical hazard programs, including lockout/tagout, fall protection, mobile equipment safety, work permitting, emergency preparedness, and contractor safety.
- Establish and maintain effective Management of Change processes for facilities, utilities, equipment, and infrastructure modifications.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet business and site operational needs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proven experience leading facilities, maintenance, and engineering teams while driving operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards, including FDA, MDSAP, MDR, OSHA, ISO 13485, and other applicable facility and quality system requirements.
- Working knowledge of critical building systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, mechanical systems, utilities, life safety systems, and facility infrastructure.
- Ability to develop and manage operating and capital budgets, analyze financial performance, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills with the ability to build high-performing teams and achieve business objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including presentation development, report writing, and executive-level communication.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Experience managing contractors, vendors, and service providers in a GMP-regulated environment.
- Ability to work effectively across functions and geographies within a matrixed, multi-site organization.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, project management, and organizational skills.
- Fluent in English with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5+ years of facilities management experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably within medical device, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industries.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with responsibility for budgeting, personnel management, contractor oversight, and operational performance.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Operations Management, or a related technical field preferred.
