Position Summary:
The Field Service Technician role requires excellent teamwork, communication, and rapport working in a team environment to build long-lasting relationships, servicing end users in the municipal water, wastewater, and industrial markets. This role will require repair, troubleshooting, and start and field service for pumps, motors, variable speed drives, PLC, and other products that we provide to our customers. The Field Service Technician is responsible for helping clients install, repair, and maintain equipment. This role shows customers how to use, support, and operate their equipment. The Field Service Technician will troubleshoot and advise the customer on how to use the equipment, build relationships with customers, and follow company procedures. An essential part of this role is creating reports on customer service calls for customers and company records as a best business practice.
Key Duties and Essential Functions:
- Perform installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of equipment at customer locations.
- Troubleshoot equipment and system issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Respond promptly to customer service requests and resolve technical problems in a timely and professional manner.
- Demonstrate proper operation and functionality of equipment to customers and end users.
- Provide technical guidance and training to customers on equipment operation, maintenance, and best practices.
- Evaluate customer needs and recommend appropriate equipment, upgrades, or service solutions.
- Maintain a daily schedule of service appointments and ensure all assigned jobs are completed efficiently and on time.
- Accurately document service activities, inspections, repairs, and customer interactions through detailed service reports.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Safely perform work in a variety of environments, including confined spaces and other challenging field conditions.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in a safe and operational condition.
- Build and maintain positive customer relationships through professional communication and high-quality service.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum two years of experience troubleshooting and repairing submersible, centrifugal pumps, and controls; not required but is a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft office programs; MS word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Basic knowledge of electrical controls and motors knowledge
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to remain professional and courteous with customers at times
- Must be available to work occasional nights, holidays, and weekends
- Travel out of state during road jobs is required on occasion
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record
This position has been designated as safety-sensitive because the individual performs duties that directly affect the health and safety of the employee, coworkers, customers, and the general public. These duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Operate and maintain pumps, valves, and process control systems.
- Operate DOT-regulated vehicles and heavy equipment (e.g., crane trucks, trailers).
- Required to comply with FMCSA drug and alcohol testing if operating CDL-class vehicles.
- Work in confined spaces, trenches, and at heights.
- Participate in or supervise entry into tanks, manholes, or vaults.
- Must monitor gas levels, entry permits, and rescue procedures.
- Handle hazardous chemicals and pressurized systems
