Field Solutions Engineer
About nTop
At nTop, we are passionate about building next-generation engineering solutions. We enable the most innovative engineering companies in the world to transform how they develop, test, and manufacture better products faster. Our software has been used to engineer mission-critical satellites, deliver stronger and lighter medical implants for patients in need, and allow engineers to create complex, high-performance products never before possible.
Our team is searching for a dynamic Field Solutions Engineer with a strong background in aircraft conceptual or preliminary design to join our Field Solutions Engineering team. Our most active strategic customers today are in Aerospace & Defense, designing air vehicles, and we're looking for an engineer who has worked inside that world and wants to bring that expertise to a broader set of customers and design challenges. In this role, you'll support customers across their entire journey, from technical discovery and product evaluation to onboarding, training, and long-term success. You'll collaborate closely with Account Executives, Customer Success, and Product teams to deliver technical demos, build design automation workflows, and consult on real-world applications. As both a technical contributor and a strategic partner, you'll help translate complex engineering requirements into high-impact solutions that drive customer value and business growth.
This role is remote, and reports into the Senior Manager, Field Solutions Engineering.
What You Will Do:
Strategic Project Management
Field Solutions Engineering is a Forward Deployed Engineering team, meaning that hires should expect frequent travel to customer locations across the US and EMEA in order to execute strategic design sprints in on-site collaboration with our partner customers. These design sprints will regularly involve Aerospace and Defense projects.
Support cross-functional customer initiatives by contributing to multi-phase projects that span pre-sales, customer transition, and post-sales activities—serving innovative teams across industries such as Aerospace & Defense, Industrial, Automotive, and Medical.
Take ownership of delegated project components across pre-sales, onboarding transition, and post sale support—contributing to strategic initiatives under the guidance of senior engineers, while learning to tailor technical solutions to the unique requirements and constraints of each sector.
Focused Domain Expertise
Grow toward full-spectrum ownership by deepening your skillset in all three core domains listed below, enabling more autonomous execution of end-to-end customer engagements over time:
1.Pre-Sale Support
- Support the technical sales process by helping prospects understand the value of nTop through discovery, demonstration, and proof of concept development
- Support technical discovery calls: Assist in identifying customer goals and design challenges; contribute to discussions while learning to connect technical needs to business outcomes
- Deliver tailored product demos: Modify and present demos using existing assets, with guidance, to align with customer use cases
2.Customer Transition and Training Enablement
- Support technical onboarding as part of the broader customer engagement, helping new accounts get oriented and productive within their first design sprints and beyond
- Partner with the Enablement & Certification team on training initiatives, contributing technical expertise where needed while ownership of structured training programs shifts to that team over time
3.Post Sale Customer Support and Workflow Consultation
- Lead technical customer calls: Drive technical sessions such as solution reviews, hybrid consultations, and scoping calls to help customers expand usage and realize value—contributing to workflow adoption and ARR growth.
- Resolve workflow consultation requests: Address technical challenges through targeted support and best practice guidance across design automation and workflow development.
- Support evaluation and special requests: Review and respond to non-contractual evaluation or technical requests, contributing to customer satisfaction and retention at all levels
Required Experience:
- Current or recent experience in aircraft conceptual or preliminary design, or a closely related discipline (e.g., aerostructures, propulsion integration, vehicle-level sizing and tradeoff studies, MDO)
- A Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related Engineering discipline, plus 3+ years of industry experience (highly-relevant doctoral degrees can be substituted for three years)
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technical software quickly; prior experience with nTop, parametric CAD, or computational design tools is valuable, but we will invest in ramping the right engineer on our platform
- Experience with scripting in Python, Excel/VBA
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Comfortable presenting in front of large audiences and senior stakeholders
- Demonstrated level of autonomy and responsibility in handling time-sensitive critical projects
- Willing to travel to conferences and customer sites (up to 50%)
It’s A Plus If You Also Have These:
- Experience with nTop software
- Project management experience
- Security clearance
- Experience with FEA and/or CFD (at least one of: Abaqus, Ansys, Fluent/CFX, Nastran, Star-CCM+, LS-Dyna)
- Proficiency in parametric modeling & 3D CAD (Siemens NX, CATIA, Solidworks, Onshape)
- Experience with Conceptual design, Analysis, or MDO. Especially in Aerospace Engineering
- Experience in working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to traditional GTM/SaaS teams & processes
- Experience with conference presentations, training workshops, and other industry-related public speaking engagements.
Compensation:
- Between 105,000-140,000 annually (depending on experience), plus equity and benefits
