Finance Analyst
As a Finance Analyst at OnTheList Middle East, you will play a key role in supporting financial operations, cost control, and business performance across the UAE, KSA, and other GCC markets.
This is a hands-on role combining financial analysis, profitability planning, invoice validation, payment processing, and tax compliance. You will work closely with the General Manager and internal teams to ensure financial accuracy, optimise costs, and provide meaningful insights to support business decisions.
We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working independently, with the ability to go beyond reporting numbers to identify opportunities for improving financial performance.
WHAT WE WILL TRUST YOU WITH...
Cost Control & Accounts Payable
- Consolidate departmental cost sheets into a comprehensive weekly cost report, ensuring accuracy and visibility of business expenses.
- Review and validate supplier invoices, quotations, procurement records, and supporting documentation before payment approval.
- Analyse operational and warehouse costs against Gross Merchandise Value (GMV), previous events, and agreed commercial terms to identify discrepancies, overcharges, and cost optimisation opportunities.
- Validate procurement and sourcing costs, benchmark supplier quotations, and ensure competitive pricing for operational and commercial purchases.
- Verify invoice amounts, VAT details, supplier information, bank details, and required approvals.
- Cross-check invoices against payment records to prevent duplicate payments and ensure all payables are legitimate and accurate.
- Prepare and maintain the weekly payment schedule, ensuring all validations are completed ahead of management approvals on Fridays.
- Coordinate with internal departments and suppliers to resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate financial records.
Financial Planning, Analysis & Profitability
- Monitor business performance against GMV, cost, and EBITDA targets, with a particular focus on EBITDA as a percentage of GMV.
- Prepare and regularly update financial forecasts covering projected GMV, operating costs, profitability, and year-end performance.
- Analyse fixed and variable costs, identifying key cost drivers and their impact on overall business profitability.
- Develop financial scenarios to determine the additional GMV required to achieve EBITDA targets, assess the impact of incremental sales on profitability, and recommend opportunities for cost optimisation.
- Identify cost optimisation opportunities through supplier negotiations, improved cost structures, and operational efficiencies.
- Review event-level Profit & Loss (P&L) statements before and after each event, including profitability analysis by brand.
- Analyse event performance, cost-to-revenue ratios, and profitability trends to support commercial and operational decisions.
- Provide clear financial insights, recommendations, and actionable reports to support management decision-making.
VAT, Tax Compliance & Finance Administration
- Independently manage monthly and quarterly tax invoice cycles, proactively coordinating with Hong Kong Finance and local teams to ensure all required documentation is collected ahead of deadlines and minimise the risk of penalties.
- Prepare and support VAT filings and other applicable tax filings in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Review transactions for appropriate VAT treatment and flag potential discrepancies or compliance risks.
- Maintain accurate financial records, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for tax reporting and audits.
- Coordinate with internal teams, external accountants, and relevant stakeholders on finance-related matters.
- Support financial documentation and administrative requirements for new entity setups and GCC business expansion.
Financial Operations & Process Improvement
- Maintain accurate and organised financial records, cost reports, payment trackers, and supporting documentation.
- Establish structured processes for invoice verification, payment approvals, cost monitoring, and tax documentation.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen financial controls, improve reporting accuracy, and minimise financial risks.
- Support the review and comparison of payment gateway fees, commercial terms, and transaction costs.
- Coordinate with commercial, operations, and finance teams to ensure timely and accurate financial information.
WHAT IT TAKES...
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Previous experience in finance operations, accounting, financial analysis, or a similar hands-on finance role.
- Strong understanding of P&L statements, balance sheets, cost structures, margins, and profitability analysis.
- Ability to analyse financial performance, prepare forecasts, and develop scenarios to support business decisions.
- Hands-on experience in invoice validation, accounts payable, procurement cost verification, and payment processing.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial reporting, cost analysis, and forecasting.
- Knowledge and practical experience in UAE VAT and tax compliance is highly preferred.
- Exposure to KSA or other GCC tax regulations and new entity setup would be an advantage.
- Experience reviewing payment gateway rates and commercial terms is an added advantage.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage recurring deadlines independently.
- Confident communicating with stakeholders, challenging discrepancies, and following up professionally.
- Ability to interpret financial data and communicate findings and recommendations clearly.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.
