Summary
The Forward Deployed Engineer works alongside the team’s Forward Deployed Engineers and the broader AI and data group to help build, deploy, and support AI-powered solutions for Duracell business teams. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on learning the craft of getting solutions in front of users and improving them quickly. The person will spend time embedded with business teams, building and testing prototypes, fixing issues, and picking up the tools and patterns the team uses. This is a strong fit for someone early in the AI journey who is eager to learn, comfortable getting hands-on with code and data, and motivated to turn real business problems into working solutions with guidance from senior engineers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
As an Forward Deployed Engineer, your primary role and responsibilities may include:
- Support the build, testing, and deployment of AI-powered solutions on data from business applications and the Snowflake data warehouse, with guidance from senior engineers.
- Build and refine prototypes, and help turn working prototypes into solutions that users can rely on.
Write and maintain Python and SQL to prepare data, wire up integrations, and support large language model (Claude, etc.) solutions. - Sit in with business teams to learn how they work, capture their problems, and help translate those into solution ideas.
- Help troubleshoot issues, gather user feedback, and make fixes and improvements based on what you learn.
- Document what you build and keep examples and how-tos up to date so the team can reuse them.
- Learn the team’s tools, standards, and best practices, and grow your skills in AI, data, and software engineering.
Must-Have
- Foundational, hands-on experience with Python and SQL.
- Some exposure to Gen AI large language models (LLMs) such as Claude or Gemini, and curiosity about how to build with them.
- Familiarity with working in data environments; experience with Snowflake or a cloud data platform is a plus.
- Willingness to work directly with business users and comfort asking questions to understand a problem.
- A strong desire to learn, a bias for trying things, and the persistence to work through problems.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Consumer packaged goods (CPG), retail, or manufacturing interest or experience is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with a concentration in Computer Science, Machine Learning,
- Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Up to 2 years of experience building software, data, or AI/ML solutions, including internships, co-ops, or significant academic or personal projects; new graduates are encouraged to apply.
