Founder Chief Technology Officier

Compensation: $80k – $110k • 2.0% – 3.5%

TheraPlug is a Detroit-based behavioral-health technology startup building a platform that connects people with licensed providers for personalized virtual care.

We are seeking a hands-on Founding Chief Technology Officer to lead the development and launch of our MVP. This role is ideal for an experienced software engineer or technical leader who is ready to step into their first CTO position and help build a high-impact company from the ground up.

Responsibilities:

• Define TheraPlug’s technology strategy and product architecture • Lead development of our iOS, Android, and web platforms • Build secure video, scheduling, AI-powered matching, payments, provider management, and insurance-claims capabilities • Establish HIPAA-compliant security, privacy, and data-management standards • Recruit and lead a small, high-performing engineering team • Manage technical vendors, development timelines, and budgets • Work closely with the CEO, clinical leadership, and business team • Support technical due diligence and investor presentations

Ideal qualifications:

• 5+ years of software engineering or full-stack development experience • Experience building and launching mobile or web applications • Knowledge of React Native, React, Node.js, TypeScript, APIs, and cloud infrastructure • Experience leading developers or managing complex technical projects • Familiarity with healthcare technology, HIPAA, cybersecurity, AI, payments, or telehealth is preferred • Strong product judgment and an entrepreneurial mindset • Located in Metro Detroit or willing to work closely with our Detroit-based team

TheraPlug is currently in the pre-seed stage. This position offers a competitive early-stage salary and meaningful equity, with the opportunity to become a foundational executive and shape the company’s long-term technology organization.

Compensation: $80,000–$110,000 annually plus 2.0%–3.5% equity, based on experience and final terms.
