Founding Engineer
Summary
Build scheduling, payroll, and HR tools for deskless teams like security guards, replacing outdated spreadsheets and legacy software stacks.
About Sira
80% of the workforce doesn't sit at a desk. Their software is a spreadsheet from 2019. Most deskless teams still run on a patchwork of ADP, Connecteam, QuickBooks, and a spreadsheet nobody fully trusts.
Sira replaces that stack with a single platform for scheduling, timesheets, payroll, HR, and invoicing.
We began with security guard companies — teams of 50–300 officers, operating 24/7, where payroll needs to be correct to the minute — and are expanding across the deskless economy.
We're a Y Combinator (S25) company with real revenue and established customers.
The Role
As a Founding Engineer, you'll own entire product surfaces end to end — from the initial customer conversation through design, architecture, implementation, and release.
You'll work directly with the customers who depend on what you build and see your work in production within the same week.
As one of our earliest engineers, you'll help shape both the product and engineering culture at Sira. You'll also play a central role in defining how AI-driven workflows are woven into a product with clear, tangible customer value.
What You'll Do
- Own product surfaces end to end across web, mobile, and backend.
- Talk directly with customers to understand their workflows, then translate those insights into well-designed features.
- Architect and build reliable systems where correctness is non-negotiable — payroll, scheduling, and time tracking leave no room for error.
- Set your own priorities in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment and consistently ship work that matters.
- Contribute to our engineering standards, including a strong, test-driven approach to quality.

You're a fit if you've shipped things people depended on and you're obsessed with customers — the kind of person who's in it for the moment someone tells you the thing you built made their day easier.
This is a rare opportunity to join as a founding engineer in a large, underserved market where excellent software simply doesn't exist yet.
You'll take real ownership, work shoulder to shoulder with the founders, talk directly to the people using what you build, and ship software that measurably improves how desk-less teams operate.
