About the Company

Our client is a venture-backed, pre-seed health-tech startup building AI referral infrastructure for healthcare, helping patients get from a primary or urgent care visit to the right specialist quickly and seamlessly. The platform is already deployed across dozens of urgent care locations and is being piloted with a major U.S. health system, with deep EMR integration work underpinning the product. The company is a small, fast-moving team in a market that has long lacked a coordinated referral layer.

About the Role

This is the company's second sales hire, joining a sales team of one. The role starts almost entirely focused on outbound: cold calling and following up with leads already surfaced by the team's existing automated lead-generation system, built by the company's first sales hire. Roughly 80–90% of lead-finding work is already automated, so the role centers on human follow-through, calling and closing, rather than prospecting from scratch.

Scope will broaden and become more flexible as the team grows. The role is in-person at the company's San Francisco office, formally five days a week, though in practice the existing team works closer to seven.

What You'll Own

  • Run outbound cold calling to potential customers
  • Manage email sequencing and follow-up outreach cadences
  • Convert and follow up on leads already surfaced by the team's existing automated lead-generation system
  • Take on a broadening scope of responsibility as one of the company's first two sales hires
  • Grow into a more senior sales role as the team scales and additional hires are brought on

Requirements

Must-Have

  • 1–3 years of experience in an outbound sales role (BDR/SDR), or a demonstrated high-potential profile with no formal sales experience (strong new graduates considered)
  • High-agency and hungry, with a track record of consistently taking on more work than assigned
  • Comfortable with a high-intensity, in-person schedule: formally five days a week, informally closer to seven
  • Strong verbal communicator, genuinely people-facing, and comfortable with cold calling
  • US citizen able to work in person at the company office; visa sponsorship (H-1B or OPT) is not available for this role

Nice-to-Have

  • Background in competitive athletics or similarly high-drive pursuits
  • Some prior sales experience, even informal, ideally several months or more
  • Healthcare or health-tech industry experience or adjacency
  • Experience selling to SMB customers
  • Experience with HubSpot

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $80,000 – $120,000 USD (roughly $90K for newer grads, $110K–$120K for more seasoned candidates)
  • OTE: $180,000, uncapped with accelerators after quota
  • Equity: 0.05% – 0.1%
