Discussion

Summary

Designs and engineers hood and fender (front closure) components for Stellantis vehicles from concept through production, creating 3D CAD models and 2D GD&T drawings in Siemens NX and managing BOMs and engineering releases in Teamcenter PLM. Works cross-functionally with manufacturing, suppliers, CAE/validation, and program management to deliver manufacturable, production-ready parts.

The Front Closures Design & Release Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and engineering release of hood and fender components and assemblies from concept through production. The role requires strong proficiency in NX, as well as hands-on experience with Teamcenter PLM for product data management, BOM management, engineering changes, and formal design release.

The engineer will work closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, Vehicle Architecture, Validation, and Program Management teams to deliver robust, manufacturable, cost-effective, and production-ready vehicle components.

Key Responsibilities

Design & CAD Development

  • Develop detailed 3D CAD models and assemblies using Siemens NX.
  • Create front closure component and assembly designs based on surface data inputs, vehicle-level requirements, packaging constraints, interface conditions, and engineering specifications.
  • Generate and update 2D engineering drawings, including GD&T, dimensional requirements, material specifications, and manufacturing notes.
  • Perform design studies, packaging reviews, design optimization, geometry iterations based on CAE assessments and support tolerance stack-ups.
  • Ensure CAD models comply with Stellantis CAD standards, modeling methodologies, naming conventions, and design-release requirements.
  • Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback from cross-functional engineering teams.

Engineering Release & Teamcenter

  • Manage product data and engineering releases through Siemens Teamcenter PLM.
  • Create, modify, and release CAD models, drawings, specifications, BOMs, and associated engineering documentation.
  • Maintain accurate Engineering BOMs (EBOMs) and ensure alignment between CAD structures, BOMs, and released product information.

Product Development & Validation

  • Support component development from initial concept through surface & stamping feasibility, validation, launch, and production.
  • Participate in Design Reviews, Design Verification, DFMEA, tolerance analysis, and other product-development activities.
  • Coordinate with CAE, testing, and validation teams to address design and performance requirements.
  • Review virtual/physical test results and implement design changes where required.
  • Support prototype and vehicle builds by resolving design, fit, form, and function issues as needed.

Manufacturing & Supplier Collaboration

  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure designs are manufacturable, assembly-friendly, and cost-effective.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on component design, tooling, drawings, specifications, and engineering changes.
  • Review supplier CAD data and drawings for compliance with released engineering requirements.
