Summary
Contract role in Hong Kong building and maintaining Java-based front-office derivatives trading applications, including end-to-end delivery and 3rd-line production support. Core stack: Java 17+, Spring Boot, Kafka, MS SQL Server/Oracle, with FIX connectivity and Angular as pluses.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Java-based applications within the Smart Derivatives perimeter, following established coding, quality, and technology standards.
- Take ownership of the successful delivery of technical solutions from development through implementation.
- Work closely with clients and project teams to communicate development progress, requirements, and delivery status.
- Collaborate closely with Business Analysts to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Work with Application Support and Production teams to troubleshoot issues and provide 3rd-line production support.
- Assist in defining and evolving software architectures by working with technical leads to understand existing systems, identify complexity and risks, and assess application capabilities.
- Collaborate with central technology teams to define, establish, and implement development best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, application quality, and engineering standards.
Requirements
- Prior finance experience in Front Office systems is mandatory, particularly within trading, derivatives, equities, or other financial markets environments.
- Experience with client connectivity through FIX, APIs, or Mail is a strong advantage.
- Java 17+ core programming experience is mandatory, including multi-threaded programming in low-latency environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Spring, including Spring Boot and preferably Spring Cloud Stream.
- Practical experience with Kafka or other stream-processing platforms is a strong advantage.
- Experience with Git and related code review tools is mandatory.
- Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server or Oracle is mandatory.
- Practical knowledge of Angular 12+ and TypeScript/JavaScript is a strong advantage.
- Experience with DevOps practices and tooling is an advantage.
- Knowledge and practical experience working within Agile development environments is an advantage.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, Business Analysts, technical teams, and production support teams
