Description

Fuel Pricing Manager

Set the Price. Shape the Market. Drive Results.

Calgary Co-op is looking for a Fuel Pricing Manager to own the pricing strategy for our retail petroleum network. In this high-visibility role, you will make timely, data-driven decisions that balance volume, margin, and competitive positioning, and you will advise senior leadership on where the market is heading.

If you are an analytical thinker with sound business judgment, a feel for commodity markets, and the confidence to make daily pricing calls, this is an opportunity to make a measurable impact on one of Calgary's most recognized community brands.

About the Role

The Fuel Pricing Manager develops and executes fuel pricing strategies that optimize sales volume, market share, gross margin, profitability, and competitive position across all Calgary Co-op retail fuel locations. You will lead daily retail fuel pricing while tracking competitor activity, wholesale costs, and market conditions, and you will support pricing for commercial accounts and bulk fuel deliveries.

You will work closely with Operations, Finance, Commercial Sales, Marketing, Merchandising, and Supply, and you will turn complex market data into clear recommendations that support the Petroleum Division's financial and strategic goals.

What You Will Do
  • Develop and execute fuel pricing strategies that optimize volume, gross margin, profitability, market share, and competitive positioning
  • Set and manage daily retail fuel pricing across all company-operated locations
  • Monitor competitor pricing, wholesale fuel costs, market conditions, and industry trends to support timely pricing decisions
  • Analyze pricing, volume, margin, and market data to identify opportunities and recommend pricing actions
  • Build site-specific and market-specific pricing strategies based on local competitive conditions and business objectives
  • Develop and support promotional pricing programs and other strategic pricing initiatives
  • Establish and maintain pricing guidelines and formulas for commercial accounts and bulk fuel deliveries
  • Evaluate commercial pricing opportunities and recommend approaches that balance competitiveness, volume, and profitability
  • Maintain pricing models, analytical tools, and reporting that enable effective business decisions
  • Deliver regular market insights, performance reporting, and pricing recommendations to senior leadership
  • Partner with Operations, Finance, Commercial Sales, Marketing, Merchandising, and Supply to advance Petroleum Division objectives
  • Ensure pricing practices, data, and processes comply with applicable regulations, internal policies, and established controls
What You Bring

Required

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience in pricing, petroleum retail, commercial pricing, financial analysis, or a related field
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modelling, and Power BI data analysis
  • Strong understanding of retail fuel pricing, competitive market analysis, and margin management
  • Ability to navigate petroleum industry trends, wholesale market dynamics, taxation changes, carbon pricing, and regulatory developments
  • Understanding of commodity markets and petroleum price movements
  • Experience with pricing software, business intelligence tools, or similar analytical platforms
  • Strong analytical, financial, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and business partnering skills, with the ability to present clear recommendations to leadership

Considered an asset

  • Experience with commercial account or bulk fuel pricing
