Full Stack Developer

The Role and the Team

We're building digital products and platforms that solve real problems, and we're looking for a Full Stack Developer who wants to help shape how we build them.

Engineering is evolving rapidly, with AI becoming an integral part of how modern software is designed, developed and delivered. We embrace tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex and GitHub Copilot to help us work smarter, experiment faster and focus on solving meaningful problems.

Our technology stack includes Laravel, PHP, React, Python and AWS. You'll work across the stack, contributing to everything from user-facing experiences and backend services to infrastructure and deployment.

But great engineering is about more than writing code or knowing which tools to use. We value developers who understand the systems they build, make thoughtful technical decisions and take responsibility for what they deliver. AI can accelerate development, but engineering judgement, curiosity and accountability remain essential.

You'll work closely with our Product and Technology teams, taking ownership of features, exploring new ideas and continuously improving our products and engineering practices.

What You'll Do

• Build and deliver: Design, develop and maintain high-quality full-stack applications, backend services and APIs using Laravel, PHP, React and related technologies.

• Work intelligently with AI: Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and OpenAI Codex to accelerate development, testing, debugging and refactoring, knowing when they add value and when they don’t.

• Own your code: Review, test and understand AI-generated code, ensuring it meets our standards for security, performance, reliability and maintainability.

• Take ownership: Contribute throughout the development lifecycle, from understanding requirements and designing solutions to implementation, deployment and ongoing improvements.

• Think beyond the code: Make pragmatic technical decisions that balance business priorities, user experience, development speed and long-term maintainability.

• Build for scale: Develop and optimise applications, databases and cloud infrastructure with performance, security and scalability in mind.

• Deliver great experiences: Work with Product and Design to build intuitive, responsive and reliable features that address real user needs.

• Improve continuously: Monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues and identify opportunities to improve reliability, performance and engineering efficiency.

• Collaborate and share: Work closely with teammates, contribute to technical discussions and share knowledge, including new approaches to AI-assisted development.

What You'll Bring

• Experience building and delivering production-ready web applications, with strong foundations in Laravel/PHP and working knowledge of React.

• A solid understanding of backend development, API design, relational databases and modern web application architecture.

• Familiarity with AWS or similar cloud platforms, including how applications and infrastructure fit together.

• Experience working across the software development lifecycle, from technical discovery and implementation through to testing, deployment and support.

• Practical experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot or similar tools, with the judgement to evaluate and challenge their output.

• The ability to explain what you’ve built, the decisions behind it and how AI contributed to the development process.

• An appreciation of clean architecture, automated testing, application security, performance and maintainable code.

• A pragmatic approach to problem-solving, favouring simple, effective solutions over unnecessary complexity.

• An understanding that successful engineering is measured by the value delivered to users and the business, not simply the amount of code written.

• The ability to work collaboratively, communicate technical ideas clearly and take initiative with appropriate support.

• Curiosity, adaptability and a genuine interest in learning and improving your craft.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Python, FastAPI or backend automation.

• Experience with TypeScript and modern React development practices.

• Familiarity with Docker, Infrastructure-as-Code or DevOps tooling.

• Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, S3, RDS or other cloud-native technologies.

• Experience integrating AI or LLM APIs into applications.

• Knowledge of application monitoring, observability and performance optimisation.

• Experience working with asynchronous processing, background jobs or event-driven architectures.

Education

A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline is beneficial but not essential. We welcome developers from different backgrounds and value practical experience, demonstrated ability and a willingness to learn.
