About the assignment
Our client is migrating an existing web application from Laravel (PHP) to a modern JavaScript stack, with Node.js in the backend and Vue.js in the frontend. The code is hosted on GitHub and the application runs on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will play a key role in planning and carrying out the migration while making sure the current solution keeps running without interruption.
Responsibilities
- Analyse the existing Laravel application and help plan the migration
- Rebuild backend logic and APIs in Node.js
- Develop the frontend in Vue.js
- Migrate and verify data and integrations
- Work with CI/CD in GitHub and deployments on GCP
- Write tests and documentation
Requirements
- Solid experience with Node.js and Vue.js
- Experience with Laravel/PHP, enough to understand and migrate an existing codebase
- Experience with GCP and GitHub (including GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD)
- Previous experience of migrating or modernising systems
Nice to have
- TypeScript
- Docker / Kubernetes
- Experience with database, e.g. MySQL/PostgreSQL
