Description
About Igloo
Igloo is the operating system for insurance in Southeast Asia. Headquartered in Singapore with operations across Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia, and technology centres in China and India, Igloo provides the AI-powered infrastructure that enables insurers and consumer platforms to build, distribute, and manage insurance products digitally.
The company's proprietary tech stack processes over 80 million policies per month and automates the full insurance value chain, from product configuration and underwriting to claims adjudication and financial reconciliation. Through Igloo Tech Solutions, the company licenses its modular technology solutions to insurers and enterprises, compressing product launch cycles from months to days.
With 1.6 billion cumulative policies facilitated, partnerships with Shopee, Lazada, Tokopedia, GCash, Telkomsel, and 100+ commercial and insurer partners Igloo is building the operating system for the future of insurance.
Igloo has raised over US$100 million in funding from investors including Eurazeo, Openspace Ventures, Tokio Marine, Cathay Innovation, and BlueOrchard. The company has been named Insurtech of the Year at the Asia Fintech Awards in 2023 and 2024, and won twin Insurance Asia Awards in 2025.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced AI Native Full Stack Engineer who is comfortable with both
front-end and back-end programming to join our dynamic team.
As a Full Stack Engineer, you will work closely with the Product, Design, Data Science, DevOps
and Engineering teams to build highly scalable and highly available web applications. You will
have end-to-end ownership of features—from understanding the problem and designing the
solution to implementation, testing, deployment and ongoing maintenance.
We are also looking for engineers who are truly AI-native: people who use AI as a force
multiplier in their day-to-day engineering work, while retaining strong technical judgment and
ownership of the solutions they build.
AI-Native Engineering
- Use AI coding tools as a core part of the software development workflow to accelerate
design, implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Apply strong engineering judgment when working with AI-generated code: validate
assumptions, identify incorrect or unsafe suggestions, and confidently override or rewrite
AI output when required.
- Use AI effectively across the full development lifecycle while maintaining ownership of
code quality, architecture, security, performance, and reliability.
- Continuously explore and adopt new AI-powered engineering tools and workflows that
improve development velocity without compromising engineering standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Truly AI-native: Proficient in using AI coding tools to accelerate development and
problem-solving, with the engineering judgment to recognize when AI-generated code,
assumptions, or solutions are incorrect and override them when necessary.
- Full-stack engineering capabilities: Comfortable owning and delivering across the full
stack—including front-end, back-end, databases, testing, deployment, observability, and
maintenance—with AI assistance.
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals and the ability to
independently reason about architecture, trade-offs, debugging, performance, security,
and reliability, rather than relying solely on AI-generated solutions.
- Proficiency in AI-assisted coding practices to increase development velocity and
experience integrating AI-driven features or APIs into modern web applications.
- Work closely with fellow Engineers, Product Managers, Data Scientists and Designers to
define, refine and implement features across the product line.
- Work closely with DevOps to build frameworks and tools, define standards (e.g. API
contracts), and improve overall development efficiency through practices such as CI/CD
and codebase hygiene.
- Work on complex engineering problems to improve the scalability, security and reliability
of our platform.
- Design, build and maintain high-quality, production-grade software across the front end,
back end, databases and supporting services.
- Take end-to-end ownership of features, including architecture, implementation, testing,
deployment, monitoring, debugging and ongoing maintenance.
Requirements
- Bachelors in Computer Science or other related Degrees.
- Min. 4 years of experience in similar roles. Experience in tech start-up is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, and the JavaScript object model
- Experience with TypeScript would be advantageous
- Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools
- Experience with AWS, RESTful/RPC services, C++/Java/Golang and related system programming languages. Having experience of Golang is a plus.
- Experience with NoSQL (e.g., Redis/MongoDB), message queue (e.g., Kafka/Kinesis), and relational databases (e.g., MySQL).
- Experience with Docker, proficient in CI/CD flow on AWS or GCP.
- Proficiency in AI-assisted coding practices to increase development velocity and experience integrating AI-driven features or APIs into modern web applications.
- Strong understanding of system performance and scaling, Demonstrated ability to design, build, and deliver complex, successful web services and/or customer experiences efficiently and with quality.
