Full Stack Engineer (Java/C# @ HK)
Summary
A senior hands-on full-stack engineer will act as the standalone regional technologist for a quantitative hedge fund's investment platform in Hong Kong, building analysis, simulation, risk, and trading tools for APAC portfolio managers, traders, and risk teams. Core stack is C#/Java back end, a modern front-end framework (React/Vue/Angular), and SQL.

My client is a leading Hedge Fund specializing in quantitative, systematic, and fundamental strategies across global markets.
They are seeking a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to serve as the standalone person for their Investment platform in Hong Kong.
This is not a traditional management or satellite support position. The successful candidate will remain highly hands-on while acting as the primary technology partner to Portfolio Managers, Traders, and Risk professionals across the region. You will build investment applications, shape the global product roadmap, and ensure the platform reflects the unique requirements of APAC investment teams.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary technology partner for APAC portfolio managers, traders, and risk professionals
- Build and enhance investment tools covering analysis, simulation, risk, and trading workflows
- Deliver production solutions across the front end, back end, data layer, and integrated workflows
- Represent regional investment requirements and influence the platform's global roadmap
- Own substantial regional workstreams from requirements gathering through development and production delivery
- Build trusted relationships with senior investment stakeholders and adjacent engineering team
Core Requirements
- Around 5+ years of experience as a full-stack software engineer
- Strong development experience with an object-oriented back-end language, ideally C# or Java
- Experience with a modern front-end framework such as React, Vue, or Angular
- Strong knowledge of SQL, data analysis, and data-driven applications
- Experience delivering and supporting production applications across the full technology stack
- Strong stakeholder-management skills, with experience working directly with business users to shape technical solutions
- Understanding of portfolio-management, trading, and risk workflows
- Self-directed and comfortable operating as the regional representative of a global engineering team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Based in Hong Kong or willing to relocate
Good to Have
- Experience within a hedge fund, asset manager, or buy-side investment environment
- Previous experience building investment tools or front-office trading applications
- Experience acting as a regional technology lead within a global engineering organization
- Experience establishing or expanding a regional engineering presence
- Familiarity with AI or agentic development tools
- Cantonese or Mandarin language proficiency for working with regional stakeholders
