Full Stack Engineer - React & Node.js (Public Sector)

Summary

The Full Stack Engineer will develop and maintain web applications for the GatherSG government platform using React and Node.js. The role involves end-to-end development, debugging, and collaborating with technical leads to deliver high-quality software solutions.

GatherSG is a composable Case Management & Customer Relationship Management (CCRM) system tech stack designed to provide the most cost-effective solution and fastest time-to-market for public service agency use cases that require a high degree of customisation to suit the government's operating context.

Role Overview

  • As a Software Engineer for GatherSG, you will be responsible for performing technical work relating to the successful delivery of one of the products powered by the GatherSG tech stack. This includes (but is not limited to) working on assigned technical tasks, debugging and resolving production issues, deployment of product, and technical discussions and reviews.
  • You will work closely with the technical lead of the team in ensuring that the team's deliverables are completed with good quality and on time. You will also have the chance to work with other functions of the team (e.g., design and delivery managers).

Experience Expectations

  • Experience in full stack web application development in modern JavaScript frameworks (preferably using TypeScript)
  • Frontend: React
  • Backend: Node.js, with frameworks such as Express or Koa
  • Experience in the following would be advantageous:
  • Creating robust and responsive UI using Tailwind CSS
  • Good understanding and implementation of relational or non-relational databases
  • Caching techniques and technologies (e.g., Redis)
  • Implementation of unit/integration testing
  • End-to-end development from frontend to API implementation
  • Usage of ORMs such as Sequelize or TypeORM
  • Familiarity with, and/or working knowledge of the following would be a bonus:
  • Infrastructure-as-code on AWS or equivalent
  • Creating and deploying container images
  • Experience with what it takes to develop/maintain healthy CI/CD pipelines and processes
  • Development of mobile apps using mobile hybrid frameworks (such as React Native) or natively
  • Good communication skills — able to articulate your code changes and work well with other team members
