About the Role We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer (Next.js + tRPC) to work closely with the founding team in building and scaling a modern, high-performance web platform. You'll play a key role in shaping both the product and engineering decisions, collaborating across product, engineering, and marketing to deliver a seamless user experience. This is a role for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment, taking ownership, and contributing across the stack, from frontend UX to backend APIs and integrations. Key Responsibilities - Build and maintain scalable web applications using Next.js (App Router) and React 18 - Develop end-to-end type-safe APIs using tRPC and backend services with Hono - Design and manage database schemas and queries using PostgreSQL and Prisma - Collaborate directly with co-founders to define product requirements, architecture, and roadmap - Work closely with the marketing team to implement SEO strategies and optimize web performance - Integrate third-party services like Clerk (authentication) and Stripe (payments) - Implement responsive and accessible UI using Tailwind CSS, Shadcn, Radix UI, and modern component patterns - Manage server state and data fetching using TanStack React Query - Contribute to analytics, logging, and monitoring using tools like PostHog and Axiom - Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and performance optimizations - Work within a monorepo setup (pnpm + Turborepo) for efficient development and scaling Must-Have Qualifications - Proficiency in TypeScript - Hands-on experience with Next.js and React - Experience building APIs using tRPC or similar frameworks - Solid understanding of backend development (Node.js-based frameworks like Hono or Express) - Experience with PostgreSQL and ORMs like Prisma - Strong knowledge of REST/HTTP concepts, API design, and data fetching strategies - React Query (TanStack Query) for server state management - Experience with modern styling approaches like Tailwind CSS - Familiarity with Git and collaborative workflows - Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to take ownership of features from concept to production Nice-to-Have Skills - Experience with monorepo setups using Turborepo and pnpm - Familiarity with authentication systems like Clerk - Experience with Stripe or payment integrations - Experience with AI integrations (e.g., OpenAI, Vercel AI SDK) - Exposure to Docker and cloud services like AWS S3 - Experience working on SEO optimization and performance improvements - Prior experience working closely with founders or startup teams What Success Looks Like - Owning and shipping features end-to-end with minimal hand-holding - Writing clean, scalable, and well-documented code that the team can build on - Proactively identifying performance bottlenecks and resolving them before they become problems - Contributing meaningfully to architectural and product decisions alongside the founding team What's in It for You - Work directly with the founding team, fast learning and real ownership from Day 1 - Shape the product and engineering culture at an early-stage, fast-growing startup - Work on a modern, cutting-edge tech stack across the full product lifecycle
