Full Stack Java Developer - Daily rate contract
My client based in Dublin City Centre is seeking a Full Stack Java Developer to join their technology team, supporting the development of business-critical applications within a fast-paced financial services environment.
This is a daily rate contract for 6 months.
This is a hands-on development role focused on designing, building and enhancing scalable, secure and high-performing applications. Working as part of an Agile team, you will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, developing both front-end and back-end solutions while collaborating closely with business and technology stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain full-stack applications using Java and modern development frameworks.
- Build and enhance scalable, secure and high-performing applications.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Design and implement responsive user interfaces using modern front-end technologies.
- Analyse, troubleshoot and resolve application issues across the full technology stack.
- Perform testing, debugging and performance optimisation to ensure application reliability.
- Collaborate with business users, technology teams and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to development best practices.
- Support Agile delivery through sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives.
- Mentor junior team members where appropriate and contribute technical expertise across the team.
- Ensure development activities comply with security, governance and risk management standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- 2–5 years' experience as a Full Stack Java Developer, ideally within financial services.
- Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs.
- Solid SQL skills with experience working with relational databases such as Oracle.
- Experience using Git and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working within Agile development environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with JUnit, Mockito or similar testing frameworks.
- Knowledge of Python.
- Exposure to AI tools or AI integration.
- Experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop or Spark.
- Experience with Kafka or other messaging technologies.
- Experience working with AWS or other cloud platforms.
