About CARBON
CARBON is a Bengaluru-based men's apparel brand with an established wholesale business and a growing direct-to-consumer presence.
As we expand, we're looking to bring technology closer to our day-to-day business operations, from inventory and sales to ecommerce, marketing and internal processes.
We're an apparel business, not an IT company, and we're looking for someone who can help us build the technology side of the business from the ground up.
About the Role
We're hiring a Founding Full-Stack Developer to take charge of our technology initiatives and work closely with the management team.
We currently don't have a dedicated in-house IT team. This means you'll have the opportunity and responsibility to make technical decisions, build solutions and see projects through from planning to deployment.
This isn't a conventional developer role within an established tech team. We're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, can work independently and is equally comfortable planning a solution and getting hands-on with the code.
As the business grows, this position has the potential to develop into a key technology leadership role within CARBON.
What You'll Be Working On
- Developing and maintaining web applications, internal tools and business dashboards.
- Building integrations between our inventory, billing, ecommerce and other business systems.
- Creating automation workflows to reduce repetitive work across departments.
- Developing AI-powered reporting tools and a centralised business intelligence platform.
- Building B2B digital catalogues, retailer portals and supporting our Shopify-based D2C business.
- Managing the technical side of projects, including architecture, development, deployment, troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Identifying opportunities where technology can make our business more efficient.
What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years of practical full-stack development experience.
- Good working knowledge of React, Next.js, JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Backend development experience with Node.js, Python or similar technologies.
- Experience working with databases, REST APIs and third-party integrations.
- Familiarity with application deployment, hosting and basic security practices.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot issues and take projects from idea to implementation.
Experience with Shopify, Zoho, WordPress, Make.com, AI integrations or business automation would be an advantage, but isn't mandatory.
The Kind of Person Who Would Fit In
Technical skills matter, but for this role, attitude and ownership matter just as much.
We're looking for someone who:
- Takes initiative rather than waiting for detailed instructions.
- Is comfortable working without a senior developer or an existing IT team.
- Can understand a business requirement, suggest a practical solution and implement it.
- Is resourceful, organised and willing to learn when a project calls for something new.
- Enjoys building systems, solving problems and seeing the impact of their work.
- Wants to grow with the company and eventually take on wider technology leadership responsibilities.
Why Join Us?
You'll be joining at a stage where there's plenty to build and genuine room to make a difference.
You'll work directly with management, have a say in technology decisions and take ownership of projects that will be used across the business.
For someone who enjoys both development and problem-solving, this is an opportunity to help shape the technology function of a growing apparel company.
Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates will go through a technical assessment, an interview and a practical evaluation, followed by a one-month paid trial on mutually agreed terms.
Apply

We're particularly interested in developers who can show us what they've built, explain the decisions they've made and demonstrate how they approach real-world problems.
